Well - it'll be a waste of time and a myth until someone actually does find it!
I've also heard of this 'golden ball' but never have seen it myself, I also don't know what it does - so I really don't think it's worth looking for pikmin!
Yes me it's only in pikmin1 and you have to defeat the zombie frog in distant springs.
Only in pikmin 1 I'm afraid, I the green and black frog demon thing that comes from an egg.
