Can someone help me I've only had metroid prime about 3 days and I'm stuck trying to get to the elevater blocked by the benzidin infested rock. How do I get past the rock non of my wepons will do the job?

There's a few places that are blocked by Bendezium that you don't have the weaponry to get past yet. Sorry, but I'm not sure where you are exactly, if you could describe the room, I might be able to offer some more assistance...
You've obviously made it to Tallon Overworld, so right now, all I can tell you is to try going in a different direction and make it to Chozo Ruins...
