How do you open a stand in Harvest Moon?

If you go to where Van sells stuff you'll see a tree. If you walk around underneath it, and keep an eye on your action button, you'll notice the word SELL. Try pressing the action button, maybe you'll do something new.
stand under the tree by the bar and walk around that area until you see sell on the A button at the top of the screen.
I agree all I do is take my controller andput it into the third slot on my gamecube or wii I use my though and then press z and put my controller back into the first slot and then I get a bunch of stuff in my back pack and when I run out of somthing important or somthing that I want then I just do the the cheat try that then do what the people up the said and you will sell a lot or stuff
