How do you fuse Kinstones? I know it sound dumb but I havent figured it out.

Find somebody to fuse a kinstone with. A thought bubble should appear next to that person. Press the L button on your gameboy and you will have the option to choose a kinstone to fuse with, pending if you have the right piece. If so, choose that piece and see what happens.

I have a problem when I find the red kinstone from the ladder outside of mayor hagens house and try to forge it with him, it won't let me. He will say random things and won't forge

I have played the game and have gotten 2 elements but I cannot figure out how to fuse kinstones and none of the buttons work plz help me
