Some people are saying to find Mew you have to give the music box to your team leader and other people are saying you have to keep it in your toolbox which is it?

NO YOU DONT HAVE TO HAVE IT ON YOUR LEADER!!!! Sometime Mew DOESNT transform!!!!! And ONCE your rocks fuse it says tat THe music box only needs to be in your inventory to attract pokemons!!!
You can have it in your toolbox or team leader eaither one will work
