Question for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team

Hi i'm getting this game at christ mas and I've already helped my freind get thhe wigglytuff back after you deafeat mt.steel.But after that a gengar appears later after the the event with alakazam's rescue team.So I have two questions why does gengar appear and say not that I can help,what happens later with the gengar and what do you do after you deafeat mt.steel.

After defeating mt. Steel, some event SHOULD trigger, if not, then you have to do a lot of rescue missions and THEN the next event should trigger
