Question for Metroid: Zero Mission

Hey, I beat the game before- a long time ago, so I tried to beat it on a new file on a harder difficulty. I just beat the worm- or caterpillar- hanging from the ceiling in Norfair, and I can't seem to get out of the room. I went down the tunnel/path to the bottom/right, and went down to Ridely, only to find there was nothing I was able to do there...so I headed back up Norfair....and now I'm stuck between the two areas. How do I get to the next part of the game??

You must fall down where the thing fell. You will go into Ridley in the part that was blocked off and battle a giant Bee. After you beat it, you get Super Missles.
