The best weapons and armor are actually the ones that you make from the dark matter which is hidden throughout the world but they also curse you and cost money in yallum (southeast on world map) to transform into weapons/armor. Otherwise the best weapon that I can think of is the one for Felix/Isaac that unleashes meteo or w/e that you find in the final lighthouse.
