The only thing like that in this game would be Lyon, a secret character that you can get after beating the game by completing Lagdov Ruins 3 times.
If you beat the game twice, once on erika's journey and once on Ephraim's journey, you can promote ewan to a pupil (2) and then when you use a guiding ring on him, he can promote into either a sage or a pupil(3). The pupil(3) or "super pupil" can use light, dark, and anima magic, but cannot use staves. He is the closest you can get to athos in FE8
