My friend told me that theres a part in the game after chapter 7 or 8 that the main character (the princess ) and her brother part ways after they meet in a battle in a castle and that you have to choose which side to join. Can some one tell me which side to choose. And what items will I get and the characters that will join me. Also will my choice affect the story line and the ending???

If you do not want much difficulty, choose Eirika. Ephraim's story is harder. Regardless of which you choose, you get the same characters and will eventually meet up near the end. The storyline does not change, but you do go to different places depending on whihc you choose. The ending is the same.
