In ff2 where and how do you get to deist?
In ff1 when do your mages become wizards?

In FF2, I'm unsure
But in FF1, once you have and airship, you can fly to the dragon isles. You'll then get a quest to get a rat tail, which when you've handed it in you'll get the level two of all your classes (Knight, Master, Ninja and wizards)
