some stuff you may want to know...or not.

Added:

1.) Ok if the chance of finding a shiny Pokemon is 1 out of 8,738, then even if you went and found 8,737 Pokemon, the last Pokemon you find will still have a 8,738 chance of finding a shiny, in otherwords, the chances will not fluctuate, or change no matter how many Pokemon you encounter. If you do find one, lucky you, just don't put it in the cheats section, because we really don't care in that section.

2.) Hidden power is not a normal attack and no it does not work like a normal move. It is more like curse's type, the ??? Type because it's power can be fire and if your ninetails, for instance uses it then it will be like ninetail's ember, but a little stronger. With some pkmn it's easy to tell what hidden powers type is. Like if ninetails hidden power was super effective vs. Scizor then b/c scizor is only weak against fire then we know that hidden power's type was fire. But if it hits like an onix and is super effective then it has many possibilities like water, grass, steel, or fighting. But if it does nothing to a steel type we know it's poison because poison can't hurt steel at all. Or if it hits ghost and does nothing it could be normal or fighting. Because it is always changing, you can't always know, unless it's obvious like scizor v. Ninetails.

3.) Shiny Pokemon are rare as we all know. But did you know that every shiny Pokemon you catch will have the exact same nature as the first one you caught.

The genetics of Pokemon are complex but heres a good thing. If you breed a red gyarados with a normal one and get 4 eggs they will be normal magikarp. BUT if you then interbreed those magikarp then you have a 25% chance of a golden Magikarp b/c shininess is recessive(which explains why you don't find hardly any at all.), so that means red gyarados' alleles are "ss" which is shiny. A regular gyarados could be "SS" or "Ss". Then if the normal gyarados is "SS" and is bred w/ a "ss" then all offspring will be "Ss" so then if you interbreed the second generation, then you have a 25% chance of "SS", 50% of "Ss", and 25% of "ss". Then if you do get a "ss" and breed it w/ a "Ss" then you have a 50% chance of "ss". But if you breed "ss" w/ "ss" then you'll always get "ss".

Breeding w/ ditto makes ditto act as a "ss" so that's why you'll always get a "ss", or shiny magikarp. Same applies to all other GENDERED shiny pokemon.

4.) The higher level your Pokemon is the more likely you are to hit the other guy w/ one-hit K.O. Moves. The easiest way to determine this is to take the difference between your level and the foe's and add that amount to the one-hit K.O. Accuracy and that's the chances of hitting. (i.e. Kyogre lv. 75 vs. Zubat lv. 38, sheercold accuracy is 30 but add the level difference(37) and sheercold has a 67% chance of hitting, but b/c kyogre has drizzle, rain makes ice moves hit 15% more making sheercold's real accuracy 82%) also rain increases the chances of freezing or being frozen, by 15%. And it make thunder's accuracy a stunning 120 so even a few double teams wouldn't help.

5.) lastly, in your firered game, you are only able, (w/o trading) to get a mere 43% of the pokedex. Leafgreen raises this to 87%. Ruby and sapphire futher's this to 98% of completion. Mystery gifts will give the remaining 2% of the pokedex, so it's tecnically possible, w/o cheating to complete the pokedex. You just need ruby, sapphire, firered, leafgreen, 2 gba's and 2 wireless adapters and maybe a link cable.

Happy to help if I did but now you have a more inside look on the real world of pokemon.
