If you send me an e-mail that complies with my rules, you'll probably get a reply within three or four days. The exact time it takes depends on the circumstances, such if I have received many e-mails that need answering at once. I check my mail about four times every week. More often if I expect an e-mail from someone. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I must also remind you that I will send the latest version only, and I repeat: ONLY to gamefaqs! This is not merely because I'm a lazy, obstinate good-for-nothing moron, but rather because I'm a lazy, obstinate good-for-nothing moron who doesn't have an excess amount of spare time. Nothing can make me change my mind about this! I *may* happen to update this guide on other sites unless there are too many of them, but DON'T count on it. But if you DO happen to host this guide (with my permission of course), you may pick up a newer version from another site unless the rules of the site in question say different. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- That's it for my rules. Because of that, you may find some grammatical errors in this guide. I correct them whenever I find them though. Another thing about my work is that I use a pre-made template for all my guides. When I add something good to the template or a finished guide, I usually copy it from one file and paste it in another. That means that it isn't impossible that you may happen to find some information in this guide that isn't suppose to be here. If such accidents occur, shoot me an e-mail and I will see to it and update it within short. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- This introduction is fairly short, but should still give you a clue about what this guide is all about. This guide contains detailed information in how to defeat that particular boss, or how to obtain that well-hidden item in that oh-so-hard dungeon. This guide focuses on the "Oracle of Age" (OoA) version of the oracle series. If you're seraching for a particular section within the guide, just look it up in the Table of contents and copy it. Then press (Ctrl+F on windows) to bring up the search option. Now paste the sections name in it and you'll find it in no time. Piece o' cake! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, here's some information about the item guides: I'm NOT using coordinates to tell you where to find items. This is mainly because there are so many different ways to make up these and believe me, they tend to cause A LOT of confusion. If I have to tell you where to find an item, I'll use the map name and where in that paricular area such as "the north-west corner of Nuun Highlands". You might find some puns (if you're clever enough to see them that is) included in this guide if you search hard enough. They are just here for the fun in it and do NOT have anything to do with the serious information that make up the major parts of this guide. Some of the puns might be removed in later versions as I now try to be a bit more professional. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yeah, I like to keep things short, and you probably like me doing it too. Whith that said, I'm done. So let's get this show on the road! >-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=< /\_______________________________________________________________ _ //\\ _______ _ ||_| // /\\ |_ _ | | | ||_| //_/__\\ | | | | | | ||_| /\______/\ | | \ \_/ / IV.......Boss Guide ||_| //\\ //\\ _| |_ \ / ||_| // /\\ // /\\ |_____| \_/ ||_| //_/__\\//_/__\\________________________________________________________||_| \______/\______/ This section starts out with an explanation: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name: The name of the boss. I have made up some names la "Ocarina of Time" style for the bosses. The names in CAPS are the real names as intended by the producers of the game (or at least the name most commonly used). Occupation: This shows you what kind of bad guy you're dealing with. They are usually either bosses or mini-bosses. Habitat: This shows you in which dungeon you find the boss. I don't use the level number in my guide, only the real name of the dungeon. HP: HP stands for "Hit-Points". This shows you how much damage the boss can take before dying. The default damage made by the Wooden Sword is 2 (with the punch of the Fist Ring having the default damage of 1). Check out the Field Items section for additional information about the damage output of your weapons. Remember that the HP of the bosses that must be defeated by other means than your actual weapons can't be measured exactly. But don't you worry. I'll let you know how many hits the boss can take anyway. Attacks: What the boss can do in order to harm you. The names are invented by me and don't appear in the game itself. Strategy: What kind of strategy the boss uses. This include how the enemy attacks, and when it does. How to defeat it: This gives you detailed information about how to defeat the boss. Items needed: This lists the items you need in order to defeat the boss. Some bosses can be defeated by other means than the sword. But since the sword is the default weapon, I'll say that you need it if it can hurt the boss at all. When I say sword, I mean ANY sword available at the moment. Comments: I sometimes add comments when I feel it's necessary. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's a quicklist of the bosses: ---Spirit's Grave--- GIANT GHINI...................It's ghost-bustin' time! If the little ghosts manage to get a hold on Link or if there are none of them around, GIANT GHINI will perform his only attack (changing expression as he does) that causes minor damage. How to defeat it: It's simple! Just slash away with the Wooden Sword as he comes within reach. Just remember that the Mini Ghinis prevent you from doing this if they touch you. Items needed: Sword Name: Mini Ghinis Occupation: Generally annoying pests Habitat: Spirit's Grave HP: 2 Attacks: Slow-down/Sword-lock Strategy: Mini Ghinis are more annoying than dangerous. If they touch Link, they will impair his movement and prevent him from using his sword. Most other items, like the shield, still work though. At set times, whether he faces Link or not, he will jump around the room two or three times and try to squash him with his weight How to defeat it: Slash his blue cloth about four times with your Wooden Sword. This will cause the clothes to fall off and the pumpkin will fall to the ground. This is your cue to pick it up with your newest toy, the Power Bracelet. Deprived of his main shield, the true boss emerges (depicted to the right). This guy may be big with his pumpkin and clothes, but he's actually smaller than Link. He will float away from him as long as he's holding the pumpkin. But once he drops it, the little guy will bolt for it and return to his larger form. In order to defeat him, Link must throw away the pumpkin and slash the ghost as it tries to return to it. That strategy requires four hits with the Wooden Sword to finish him off. Evil spirit begone! An alternative strategy is to throw the pumpkin directly at him. This strategy requires only three hits in order to finish PUMPKIN HEAD off. But the best things is that the pumpkin can hit the ghost two, or even three, times in a row as it bounces around. Choose whichever strategy suits you. Name: Fluttering Menace, SWOOP. Occupation: Minor boss Habitat: Wing Dungeon HP: 20 Attacks: Ground breaker Strategy: SWOOP can fly with the greatest of ease with the help of her wings. (it looks like they're her ears but they're really wings that are located on her back). She uses this ability to always stay out of harm's way as Link can't reach her in any way as she's in the air. She occasionally falls to the ground, breaking the floor with her weight as she does. How to defeat it: In order to defeat her, Link must attack when he can reach her. That means, just after she's landed. She'll take to the air immediately after being attacked. The more damage she takes, the more she bounces on the ground. However, she can't break any of the blue tiles in the room (those that run beside the walls, that's them). If Link is hit directly from above or if he walks into the pits, he'll fall to the floor below and will have to restart the battle. So try to avoid letting her crush Link with her butt, ok? 'Cuz it hurts alot! Items needed: Sword Comments: I don't know if SWOOP is a "she" or not, but that's my assumption, wrong or not! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- [ASCII Art unavaible!] Name: Wildly Spinning Dizzy-head, HEAD THWOMP Occupation: Guardian of the Ancient Wood Habitat: Wing Dungeon HP: 16? (four bombs defeat him) Attacks: Fireballs (Green face), Fireball wheel (Blue face), Earthquake/Rock drop (Purple face) Strategy: This wierd enemy just spins in place and occasionally throws a few fireballs. He also occasionally drop bombs that Link can add to his own. Other than that, his attacks depends on which head that faces the screen when he stops spinning. How to defeat it: Use the spinning blocks in the room to get above HEAD THWOMP. Then drop a bomb into that flowerhat-thingy of a head. He'll start spinning madly and soon stops completely. The face that was facing the screen when the bomb fell into his head is the same face that HEAD THWOMP will stop on. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to make his RED face face the screen four times. Each time you successfully stop him on red yields you a recovery heart. If you stop it on another face... well, then you're in for some serious counterattacks. To avoid the Fireballs, just move out of the way. To avoid the Fireball wheel AND the Rock drop, stand on either one of the middle blocks next to the ladders. Oh, and by the way: It might be possible to throw bombs into his head while on the stationary platforms above. But that strategy takes much more precise timing, AND more careful aiming! But it allows you to stay out of harms way most of the time Items needed: Roc's Feather, Bombs Comments: Like said, he occasionally drops additional bombs as he attacks. That's good to know if you know that you can't finish him off with what you have. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ###### ##zzz z## #zzzz###zzz### #zzzz##' #z##' # #zz#####''#####'# #zz#zz##### #### #zzzzzzz### ## # #zzzzzzzz# ## ### ##zzzzzz###' # ## # #zzzzzzzzz##'#' # ## #zzzzzzzzzz#'#''# # # ##zzzzz# zz#'#''#'#' # #zzzzzz##zz########## #zzzz### z######## #zzzz#####zz##### ############### "As long as I'm underground, your attacks don't scare me!" Name: Subterranean Tunneling Beast, SUBTERROR Occupation: Minor boss Habitat: Moonlit Grotto HP: 20 Attacks: Drilling strike Strategy: SUBTERROR's strategy is, for him, an excellent one. He stays underground in order to completely foil your attacks. If it was that simply, then you, too, would at least be ok. But, of course, it's never that simple... SUBTERROR can bore straight through the ground and hit you from below while you can't do a thing! Oh, the cowardice! How to defeat it: Here's a dilemma for you: What would you do in order to make an enemy who stays underground all the time vulnerable for attacks? The answer is in fact very simple. You dig him up of course! With a shovel, of course! Take out your shovel and do that. Then introduce your sword to his gimlet-beaked face! Items needed: Shovel, Sword Comments: You can dig for hearts and rupees in this room too. When SUBTERROR touches the holes, they'll be restored. This means that it's theoretically possible to get an unlimited amount of rupees/hearts in this room. Comments 2: Why is he wearing sunglasses? Is it because his eyes are really sensitive? Or is he just being hip? Well... Shadow? In this state, she's invincible. She only takes on her "real" form when you have your back turned towards her. This means that you can't harm her by convenient means. She occasionally splits into a group of four shadows that actively hunt you before regrouping. How to defeat it: If you can't best her while facing her, you'll have to find a way to hit her without turning around at all. When she prepares for the Shadow assault (where she runs up on you from behind), fire the Seed Shooter forwards and the seed will bounce back, hopefully hitting her on the way. Any seed can kill SHADOW HAG. Six hits should be enough to finish her off. Items needed: Seed Shooter + Seeds Name: Mothulas Occupation: Generally annoying pests, Seed providers Habitat: Moonlit Grotto HP: 1 Attacks: Touch Strategy. Mothulas simply move in random patterns. They sometimes "accidentally" shield SHADOW HAG when you try to hit her with the Seed Shooter. How to defeat them: Slash it with your sword or use a seed of some kind... Comments: Kill these guys if run out of seeds. They drop a lot of them when they go down. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- #### ## #, ## # , ## , # , ## ,, #, ,, ## ,, # , , ## ,, # , , ,, # ## ,, #, , , , #,## ,, # , , ,, #, #,, # , ,, ,,, #, # # , , ,, ###, # , , ,, ##,,#,,# ,, , ##,,# ## ,, , #,,# , , ### , ### #### # z# # z## ## # z# # z# # # ## z# # z# # # # z# # # # z# z########### z# #z z# #zz# -## # # #zz### #zz# -### #z ##z# ##z# ----- -## #zz zz# #z# -#####- -# #zz zz### # -### ###- -## #z z#####--### ###---# #####z##--### ###---## #z #z#-#-## # ##-#--## #####z#-# -# # #- #--## ####z#-#- # # # -#--## #####-##-# # #-##--## ###-#### # ####--# #z#-##-- # --##--## #z#-###-----###--## ###-##-#---#-##--## # #-#- #---# -#--# #zz#-# -#---#- #--# #####-#-#######-#--# #z #-####---####--# ####z#--##--#--##---# #### ##-----###-----## #zzz ## #---## #---## ############# #### "My mighty sword and mighty shield shall crush you!" He stays behind his "un-breakable" shield all the time! And your puny little weapons won't even make a dent in it... D'oh! Meanwhile, his sword flies around the room on it's own and follow you around, stopping periodically for a while before coming after you again. And you can't harm the sword either... Double D'oh! How to defeat it: Take a good look at his shield. See that sword emblem? It's a hint! Do you think it's painted on his shield just for decorative purposes? Well, maybe it is... But that's beside the point. The point is that YOU must lure the self-guided sword into hitting the mighty shield. After hitting it three times, both of them break, revealing the now more vulnerable ARMOS KNIGHT. But remember that while you're fighting, he may suddenly get the urge to change direction, causing the sword to miss him and thereby spoiling all your hard work! Triple D'oh! In this state, it takes only five hits with the Wooden Sword to put him on ice. Items needed: Sword Comments: Does his armour provide him with any protection at all? It sure doesn't seem like it, since a WOODEN sword can kill him in just five hits when he's deprived of his shield! One can wonder why he wears that bulky thing at all... Well... In the gaming world it IS the items that make the hero! Link can't do a thing without his trusty items except walking, jumping down ledges, falling into pits and getting injured and/or killed by monsters. This is where the items enter the picture. They're here to make a difference! This section is dedicated to Link's trusty items. Link can find items pretty much everywhere in the vast worlds. But most of them follow the old Zelda-tradition and can be found in dungeons. They all help out in some way. Some of them even get upgrades! I think that covers it. Let's get going right away! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Explanation time! Name: Shows you the name and the in-game description of the item. Power: Shows how much damage the weapon can dish out, if it can deal any damage at all that is. Beware! The damage sometimes even applies to Link himself. If so, then I count every quarter of a heart as 1 HP. This means that one heart equals 4 HP. Remember: The only way to measure the strenght of an item is to take the weakest possible weapon (in this case, a punch from the Fist Ring) and then compare everything else to it on many different enemies. If you think that I may have gotten the wrong Power for a particular weapon, please feel free to notify me. Effect: What kind of effect the item can cause, if it has an effect at all other than causing damage that is. Description: A description. Where to get it in OoA/OoS: This shows you where you can get the item if it appears at all in that game. N/A (Non Available) means that it doesn't appear in that particular game. This guide focuses on OoA, but I'll still list where to find them in OoS. I just feel generous! Comments: I sometimes add comments for informational purposes, or just for fun. >-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=< Field Items >-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=< Before we start, I would like to share this oddity with you. The Field Item screen is designed to hold at most 16 items. In OoA, the player can find a maximum of 15 items counting the Bombchus and the Biggoron Sword, while the player can only get 14 in OoS. I just find that strange. As of now, only the normal Slingshot is missing. Other uses include; creating an additional stairstep in order to scale high platforms, block an enemy's path, act as a barrier for statues (sometimes, there are two or more statues that all move in the same direction if Link tries to push just one). An additional effect that not many people know about is that the Cane of Somaria can cover up the last blue tile in the puzzles were Link has to make all blue tiles red by walking over them in the correct order. Wikipedia, for the names of the bosses GIANT GHINI and SMASHER. http://www.wikipedia.org 6. Sponge91, for telling me about how to find Ricky's Flute in OoA WITHOUT playing a linked game. <>=================================================================<> I mostly work alone on my guides, but if anyone helps me out then I'll certainly give 'em credits for it!
