How do you catch Mew?

You cannot, no matter what anybody says, you need gameshark or some other cheating device to be able to catch him.

First off Danski90 isn't completely right but not completly wrong either. You can get a Mew with a Gameshark (code is 0197EDD0) but you can get it on a red/blue/yellow version of pokemon.

In order to find out how to get Mew on Red/Blue/Yellow go to pokemon Blue user-submitted cheats. go down until you see "How to Catch Mew in Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow" by storm serpent.

He will give you the play by play on how to catch it. But if you dont have Y/R/B use the gameshark code.

You can only get mew on pokemon blue/red/yellow, by flying away, from the guy facing upwards on the right of saffron, to cerelean, battle the guy with the level 17 slowpoke, beat him fly to lavender go left and youll find mew, if you want the detailed version, just ask, I didn't have time to write it

2 ways. Trade from red/blue, Gameshark.

Sorry to admit this, but Mew can only be obtained in two ways:

1. GameShark

2. Through the Mew Glitch in R/B/Y, from which you must trade it over.

You can use a cheat, which is 0197EDD0

When Mew appears, weaken Mew first or just throw a ball directly. You can use any ball, but I use Great Ball. If you failed to catch, buy more balls and try using the cheat until you have Mew.

Try not to use the cheat more, or your game will freeze.

Emulators have cheats built in them so you don't have to worry about gamesharks or trading or anything like that, it is just hard to find them, but they are there. Its kind of like searching for the dogs in silver
