What originally began as a ditch attempt effort to save a company from bankruptcy, has become one of the best selling and most well reknowned series of all time. Final Fantasy, which was made back in the early days of gaming history, has impressed people time and again with their flawless graphics and incredible storylines. And with Final Fantasy XIII, there is no exception.
If a game could have pure graphics flowing seamlessly from movie to gameplay, this is the game. While the graphics are not as smooth in the gameplay, they flow so easily between the two that you wonder how they could actually do it. Beautiful colours, landscape, and character models make it so breathtaking and enjoyable that you want to come back to it time and again.
The music of the game is awesome. Let`s just state the fact right there. The rest of the sound is amazing as well. The only flaw with the sound I noticed is the running and the sound of the shoes against the ground. While nothing special compared to the rest of the sounds constantly filling your ears, the repetitious noise of the shoes sounding the same over and over again is quite annoying. Other than that, it sounds quite dramatic in intense scenes and really pulls you into the story.
Another well done aspect as well is the gameplay. Most Final Fantasy games draw you into an "arena" area where you select the moves and then they fight. They do this just as well in this game, but they allow for more control and more ways for the player to get involved with the fight. Among this is the Paradigm Shift, which allows your entire team to transition from offense to defense and healing. Awkward at first, it allows for an interesting fight and constantly keeps you on your toes throughout the battle.
Running through the game is not as satisfying as other games as most of the time you feel like you are running through a tunnel. The areas you run in can often feel flat and very lifeless despite the fact of ongoing chaos ocurring around you. Beautiful, but not very great.
This is an extremely well done game. Though there is not as much to offer as in Final Fantasy VII or XII, the game will take a long time to complete. It is a very rewarding experience because by the time you are finished with it, you are considering going through it once again. The lasting impression though will follow you a lot longer.
This game is awesome. When I heard this game was coming out, I was anxiously awaiting it. Now that I have played through some of it, this game definitely hits a lot of points with which I can say I love. The storyline, though confusing at first, is awesome and really touching. The characters are well rounded and easy to relate to since they all have different struggles. And the game is well crafted that I can't even tell when it is moving from movie to gameplay. The whole experience feels flawless as well as breathtaking. If this is the face of Final Fantasy, I anxiously await the next one.
