Fae Farm Flower Breeding Guide
Updated: 25th Sep 2023 by Team SuperCheats
The majority of color used to customize your outfits and furniture in Fae Farm is locked behind breeding hybrid flowers. This Fae Farm Flower Breeding Guide will tell you everything you need to know about growing flowers of all the colors of the rainbow.
Where to Find Rosalind
Just across from Vera's potion shop in East Town you will find the flower stall. Go over and talk to the girl selling flowers there who is called Rosalind. She will ask you to help her breed a unique hybrid flower that can only be grown in Azoria. Rosalind explains that to grow this hybrid flower you must leave a space between two watered flowers so it results in a hybrid flower growing between them.
- How to Complete Rosalind's Task
Rosalind will instruct you to plant a red rose and a white zinnia but leave a space between them in order to create a pink flower that will grow between the two you plant.
To complete this task you will need a few Flower Soil Beds which will each require:
- One Oak Log
- One Silt
- One Mulch
It is crucial when you place the Flower Soil Beds together you make sure you leave a big enough empty space between the two flowers. This must be done to encourage new flower growth. It is also important to remember that Hybrid flowers cannot grow between two parent flowers if there's not a vacant space.
Breeding a red rose with a white zinnia can produce one of the following:
- Pink Rose
- Pink zinnia
- Red zinnia
- White Rose
How to get the Missing Flowers and Types
- Rosalind's Stall
When you first meet Rosalind her stall only sells three flowers in different colors:
- Red Rose Seeds
- White Lilly Seeds
- Yellow Tulip Seeds
You will not be able to create all the colors that are listed in your Almanac with these base colors. To get the other colors you must first complete the Floating Ruins, the second dungeon, and remove the Miasma from the overworld.
Once you have accomplished this new flowers will be unlocked which will be the missing base colors. To get the flowers you need to go to the marketplace in the Elven Village and speak with Asphodel, whose stall is right by the bridge to the Fae Realm Farm.
- Asphodel's Stall
Aside from the base crop seeds that you need for regular farming and the three types of fertilizer Asphodel will also sell:
- Green Zinnia Seeds
- Blue Hyacinth Seeds
- Magenta Trillum Seeds
When these new flowers are planted at any of your farms with the flowers you get from Rosalind you will have the full spectrum of base colors. Having access to all the base colors will enable you to begin creating your second wave of hybrids by mixing your new colors.
How to get the Missing Flower Colors
Both Rosalind and Asphodel only have one color of each flower for sale at their stalls yet the Almanac lists that each of the six flowers comes in every one of the 12 colors possible in Fae Farm. This means that you will need to grow hybrids for the other 11 colors of each flower in order to complete that page in your Almanac.
In order to produce a new flower you will have to rely on certain combinations of genes. Just make sure that you remember when hybridizing flowers the new flower will take on the type and/or color of either parent flower. Every flower has two 'genes' marked by the colored petals. Breeding two Flowers into a hybrid flower can make a hybrid flower with two different color genes. Below are examples of what some of the combinations make:
- Red Rose + White Lily = Pink Lily
- Red Rose + Yellow Tulip = Orange Tulip
- Green Zinnia + Magenta Trillium = Black Trillium
- White Lily + Yellow Tulip = Ivory Lily
