Welcome to the next chapter in the DBZ Video Game saga. This new game: Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai will take you through a story mode scenario based on the hit movie DBZ: Rebirth of Fusion, the latest movie out in the Dragon Ball Z movie collection.
Going the way of cartoon graphics, this is, in my opinion, the best looking DBZ game out right now, with less complicated controls than Budokai Tenkaichi, and no targeting system, this game looks quite like a mix of Budokai 1, 2, and 3 combined. Sometimes, creators try to combine previous versions of games and fail miserably, that was not the case with Shin Budokai
Love the sound effects. Remember Budokai 1? This game features all the sound effects from that dream game, and the music too. Now you can destroy evil, or crush justice to an officially smashmouth soundtrack. The menu sounds leave something to be desired, not moving away from the little pings and dings of the menu screen, but the music in battle will make you forget all about it
Story mode: Arguably the best story mode since Budokai 2, this story never gets boring, even though battles with the same opponent occur regularly, it's not an over and over thing, so it won't get boring. The controls are a little bit more complicated this time around, with the addition of the EXTRA DAMAGE feature and the elimination of Special Beam Battles (rotation of the analog stick).
You'll have many things to do with this game. Completeing the game will not only be just collecting all the characters, it's also collecting the shop items and Battle Cards customizers. This game wont be quite as long as Tenkaichi, but you wont be dropping it before you complete it, as I said, this game rarely gets boring
This game is great. It had the capacity to surpass Tenkaichi, but we're talking about PS2 compared to PSP, and look what happened to SDvR 2006, everyone knows PS2 dominated that game, but not in this go around. Shin Budokai can hang with Budokai Tenkaichi
