When Connor arrives at the scene, the first thing you'll notice at the entryway is the family photo on the table to your right. Take a look if you like so you'll at least know the names of the people you're trying to help.

And then there's the fish on the floor which you can choose to put back in the tank or ignore. Also keep in mind that for this walkthrough, I will be aiming for the best possible outcome one can get by the end of the game. So while I will talk about the other possible endings for certain scenarios in this written guide, I will only be showing the best one in the video.

Find Captain Allem

That being said, you'll soon come across the distressed mother who has no qualms expressing her disgust towards the android kind upon realizing what Connor actually is. Brush it off and be on your way. You'll find Captain Allen in the parents' bedroom. Ask him any two questions (doesn't matter which) and he'll get abgry then leave.

Understand What Happened

Now you can start checking for clues around the house. However, try not to waste too much time as you will be forced to face the deviant regardless of your progress. Your success rate for saving the hostage starts at 48% and rises with every significant clue you find. Some of them even unlock dialogue options you can use when negotiating with the deviant.

Anyway, start by checking the gun case on the floor of the master's bedroom. Analyze the empty case and the box of bullets then reconstruct the events. Stop at the yellow points during reconstruction and press Triangle to take note of key moments in the event. From this you'll know that the deviant is using the father's gun as his weapon.

Next, enter the purple room and retrieve the headphones on the floor to conclude that the hostage was unaware that a shooting has taken place. Grab the tablet on the table to learn the deviant's name. This unlocks a new dialogue option when you negotiate with Daniel later.

Head out to the living to find the father's body. Here you must analyze the face and three gunshot wounds to the body. Reconstruct the events to know that Mr. Phillips was holding a tablet when he was shot. Collect the device from the corner of the room and be informed that the deviant was about to be replaced.

Onward to the kitchen with the police officer's body. Analyze the face, the gunshot wound to the body, and the fingers. Look under the table to find the officer's gun at the end of the reconstruction. You can choose to either take the gun or leave it. Taking it unlocks a new action when negotiating with the deviant.

Still in the kitchen, turn off the stove to learn that family was about to have dinner when the incident happened. You can also unmute the TV on the wall and watch the news report on the situation. Neither of these actions add a significant boost to your success rate, but you might as well do them for the sake of exploring.

Now for the last two clues, take a look at the blue blood on the floor near the door, as well as the child's shoe right across from it. The former tells you what model the deviant is, while the latter indicates that the hostage could be hurt. In any case, you have now seen everything you need to in the house so go outside and face the deviant.

Negotiate with the Deviant

From here, you need to work on gaining the deviant's trust. So it's obvious that any choice that allows Connor to cooperate with Daniel increases your chances of saving Emma. Start with names (a choice made available by finding the tablet in Emma's room), and start moving towards the wounded officer on the left while they talk.

Next to choose to either be calm or to reassure Daniel and once you reach the officer, Daniel stops Connor's efforts to help. At this point you have the option to either obey or ignore his demands. Choose to obey and he'll ask if you're armed. Tell the truth to drop the gun. Although lying won't really affect your success rate. Also you get to keep the weapon should you lie, and this in turn gives the option for Connor to use the gun at certain points of the negotiation.

Now you get to confront Daniel about the cause for his behavior (a choice unlocked by checking John's tablet in the living room), or talk to him about his close relationship with Emma (unlocked from checking Emma's tablet in her room).

Continue playing nice and emphatize with him. Soon he'll demand for the helicopter leave. Do as he asks then tell him to trust you. When he asks for a car, choose to compromise. The locked option is for the gun if you lied and kept it. Finally, reassure Daniel for the last time (again the locked option is for the gun) to successfully complete the mission.
