There really was no introduction to the story other than the short video of Nicole playing before you entered the Ishimura. As soon as the game started you were thrown into a room with a Necromorph and told to run. Now I am not saying that it started off badly, but it could have used a more extensive introduction.
EA did a good job on the graphics. It seems that they put plenty of time into all of the writing on the walls and floor. They also did a good job on the characters and enemies within the game. The lighting effects in the game were also very well done. Even though it was dark for most of the game you could clearly see any enemies or objects while playing.
The sound was very suspenseful. It was very well done in my opinion and it occasionally made me jump. It would hardly ever go from barely audible to excrutiatingly loud. I could not find any fault with the sound in this game. Other horror games should have their sound done like this.
The gameplay was slightly repeditive but at the same time enjoyable. One of the few things that I found wrong with this game was the punching and stomping action. The punch did not really help you if a Necromorph came close to you and the stomp was hard to control. The shooting control was well done in my opinion.
This game would last you anywhere from 10 to 20 hours depending on the difficulty it is set on. It was long enough to keep you occupied and short enough to not be boring. Any one who plays this game will probably play the story all of the way through multiple times before it becomes boring.
Overall this game was very enjoyable. Is was one of the few games that actually ever scared me and if you have the money I would recommend buying this game. It was well made and I hope there is a sequal made. Also if there is a sequal made then I would hope that they bring the main character back.
