In this latest installment of the Burnout series, you cruise throughout the beautiful Paradise City working your way to becoming a Burnout Elite. With 120 events in the city and 75 cars (OK so you could have 80 if you cheat...) the possibilities are near endless.
I'll admit, the game runs very smooth. But some buildings the civilian cars are a bit dull. And they're unusually smaller than the car I'm driving. And though I hear that there's a great view of the city up at Crystal Summit, I can't see the city at all. Though I might be able to see it if the camera system wasn't so limited.
Everything sounds great. From the sound of the engine on my Takedown 4x4 to the car that I just destroyed in a Road Rage event. But I found it weird that the engine on the car that I'm trying to destroy is louder than my own car. I also found that DJ Atomica (Or however you spell his name) can be a bit annoying every now and then. But then again, I can just block him out by blaring Iced Earth and Megadeth.
Let's see, I love how well the cars can handle at ridiculously high speeds. I can speed up North Mountain Drive. On my Watson Revenge Racer and I can still make that turn on Uphill Drive at 200MPH without destroying my car. The events (Especially Road Rage) are really fun.
But this could have gotten a 9 if it wasn't for one thing...... The AI. It's like it was programmed by a 6-year old. Guy driving the civilian car, I'm coming toward you. That means you should get out of my way as fast as you can. Hey I'm in a race. Why the hell are you civilians still on the road?
In other words, the guy who programmed the AI for this game needs to be shot.
Where to start....... There's 120 events (And you'll be doing these about 200 times altogether), 75 cars about 450 smashes, about 100 Burnout billboards, and around 50 Super Jumps. In a sense, there are tons of things to do. Expect to be playing this game for a long time (I'll probably take a month for the average gamer to finish)
Overall, this game can be real enjoyable. But believe me when I say this, the AI can get you really pi$$ed off. If there's a way for you to get through it, you will love this game. And I will praise you. Also, the Aerodrome off Nelson Way is great for Stunt Runs.
