How to Solve the Rosymorn Monastery Puzzle in Baldur's Gate 3

Near the end of Act 1 in Baldur's Gate 3, you will be given the choice of traveling through the Underdark or taking the mountain pass to get to Moonrise Towers. If you opt for the latter you will come across a dilapidated monastery off the beaten path that has a tricky puzzle to solve. Our How to Solve the Rosymorn Monastery Puzzle in Baldur's Gate 3 will give you the solution.

In the run-down Rosymorn Monastery, you will discover a room that has a large stained-glass window that is decorated with images of Dawnmasters, the high priests of the Lathanderian order. To solve the Rosymorn Monastery puzzle, you need to find Ceremonial Weapons hidden around the monastery grounds and return them to the right positions inside this room.

If you look around the room you will see four plinths, on one of them there is an illuminated Ceremonial Sword which hints towards your need to find three more items for the empty plinths.

  • Ceremonial Mace

A Kobold looter has the Ceremonial Mace on the ground floor of Rosymorn Monastery. These explosive creatures are drunk on strong wine, meaning they burst into flames if you defeat them with fire damage. The quickest way to take them all out is to throw a fireball or explosive item.

  • Ceremonial Battleaxe

You will find the Ceremonial Battleaxe behind the glowing enchanted door down the hall from the stained-glass window. There are two ways to gain access. You can either pick the lock on the door and use spells or weapons to break down the furniture inside or you can climb through the broken window located next to the plinths in the stained-glass window room and then climb over the balcony.

Either way, once inside you will still need to defeat the Guardian of Faith to claim the Ceremonial Battleaxe. The Guardian of Faith has high defense but can be defeated if you continually use ranged attacks while keeping outside of his circle. Once he's been destroyed, you can claim the Ceremonial Battleaxe.

  • Ceremonial Warhammer

The Ceremonial Warhammer can be found on the roof of Rosymorn Monastery. To reach the rooftop area you will need to interact with the vines at coordinates X:90 and Y:39 to climb to the top.

On the roof you will find a couple of eagles guarding a nest, you need to kill the eagles in order to obtain the Ceremonial Warhammer which will be in the nest. The eagles have a weakness to fire. Make sure you use your fire-based abilities and fire arrows whenever possible.

Solving the Puzzle

Once you have collected all the Ceremonial Weapons you need to return to the stained-glass window and interact with the four plinths to learn which corresponds to which Dawnmaster. The Ceremonial Weapons are placed in the following order:

    • Dawnmaster Welkinglory, northwest pedestal: Longsword is already there
    • Dawnmaster Seed, northeast pedestal: Ceremonial Warhammer
    • Dawnmaster Vaseid, southwest pedestal: Ceremonial Battleaxe
    • Dawnmaster Stockhold, southeast pedestal: Rusty Mace

Each weapon when placed correctly will glow with light, and once all four are seated a secret hatch opens revealing the Dawnmaster's Crest. It is important that you obtain the Dawnmaster's Crest because later in Baldur's Gate 3 it opens the path to get one of the best maces in the game, Blood of Lathander Mace, which has healing qualities and can cast the Sunbeam.
