Soul Coins not only represent a form of currency in the Nine Hells, but they are also used to power potential companion Karlach's Infernal Engine which was put in place of her heart against her will by the archedomon Zariel. When Karlach consumes Soul Coins it provides her with a damage boost. To use a Soul Coin you need to do the following:

  • Step 1:

Make sure the coin is in Karlach's inventory. Only she can use them.

  • Step 2:

    Open up Karlach's inventory

  • Step 3:

Right click on the Soul Coin

  • Step 4:

    Select 'Consume'

If done correctly Karlach will instantly burst with a fiery flame effect and she will now have the Infernal Fury Condition which will grant her attacks an additional 1-4 Fire damage while she is Raging or her HP drops below 25%.

This effect applies to both Karlach's weapon and unarmed attacks. It is important to remember when using the Soul Coins that you make sure Karlach maintains a state of Rage or you won't see the extra benefit. The Infernal Fury effect will last until the next Long Rest.
