The Top 10 Most Challenging Achievements: Xbox 360

08. The Witcher 2: Last Man Standing (15G) Survive your 30th fight in the Arena.

Thanks to the first game in the series, by the time Witcher 2 arrived it already had both a built-in following and certain expectations in terms of the characters and their appearance in the game world as well as personalities - expectations that did not lead to disappointment.

We could say that the unique warrior identity of the protagonist and the intuitive combat system and controls in the game made The Arena a very natural fit for the game, but the truth is that this new addition to the game offered a level of interaction and game play mechanics unlike everything that came before it and, really, very much unlike the rest of the play in that sequel.

As Geralt we duel a variety of foes in battles to the death -- in fact that is a point that needs repeating - you can (will) die here. But death will not matter as it does not carry out into the game world and you can die and still attain your goals in The Arena.

The catch is that the gladiatorial focus and play scheme brings the combat system in the game an entirely new and different challenge - so naturally there is an Achievement that neatly fits into our theme this time around: it being among the Most Challenging!

Just like the Achievement name implies, this one is a combination of developing solid battle skills in the Arena (that experience being markedly different than that of the story/campaign) and learning to marshal your resources and abilities to be The Last Man Standing!

To re-cap there are a few facts that are good to know:

You are permitted to die but, as Arena play - and death - is not linked to your campaign character that is not a big deal. Each wave - win or lose - will allow you to level your character up. It is also worth noting that The Arena and the main campaign are completely separate from each other - you cannot unlock campaign Achievements in Arena and vice-versa.
