Alien: Fireteam Elite has a simple system for growing your marine and this is something you should strive to do as leveling up your marine unlocks slots in their skill tree, as well as new abilities and perks which will increase your Combat Rating. Some of these new abilities will be locked to a specific class of marine, while others can be obtained by all five character classes. As you only have a limited amount of space, you need to make the decision of whether you want your marine to be an all-rounder or specialize in a certain field. Always make a point of checking in with the officer in charge of supplies as he will often have perks that all five character classes can use providing you have enough currency on-hand to purchase them.
