How do I restart if I don't like my dog/cat and by restart I mean change my dog or cat to a different one

If your meaning in getting rid of one of your pets then you go to the hotel and click on donate and go from there.
If your meaning to change your entire game to restart then you'll need to press A, B , Y, X and camera buttons L & R
