You can play against the computer in two different sections of the multiplayer. First, from the main menu go to "multiplayer" then choose "Live"/"Playstation Network" then "Combat Training" and you can play against AI Bots in Free For All and Team Death Match. To change the amount of BOTs you play against, the difficulty, score and time limits, just enter the "Edit game options" menu. This version requires a broadband internet connection to be able to play.
Alternately you can also play against AI offline if you go into "Local" from the "Multiplayer" menu then "Split Screen" and then you should see "Edit Game Options" as well. That will allow you to set up the game with BOTs.
Be warned though, BOTs only appear in FFA and TDM NOT objective based games.
The difference between the two versions is in the "local" "split screen" version, EVERYTHING is unlocked and available for you to use. In "Combat Training" (the online one) you must rank up and buy everything yourself.
Go on multiplayer ,then go on xbox live then go to combat training it's like online just you choose the difficulty and how many players
Another point that evryone else forgot is that you have to update black ops through xbox live before you can access offline bots or computers
Go to the regular multiplayer game lobby. Go to your game options. There should be an option to where it asks you if you want to add enemies to your game. If so, add up to 9 enemies. Then there should be another option to where you put whatever difficulty you want them to be on. I recommend starting with a beginner difficulty than with a harder one. Just to make sure you know what you are up against
Download the update and a option will appear in the local multiplayer menu.
