This is pretty much an unaswerable question without more info.
Personally, I find the FAMAS, AUG, AK-47 and Galil to be decent all round guns, for all ranges and gaming styles.

Now then, into more detail:
For close range and rushers, and even lesser medium range, the AK-74u with Rapid Fire is incredibly hard to beat. It can have 2-3 bullets out before the enemy is even aiming down the sight. With more practice, can be used as a standard Assault Rifle.

For you more cautious players, the M14 is a very good gun, which has a lot of power per bullet, which when combined with an itchy trigger finger, is a decent rival for the 74, and improves it's advantadge at ranges.

Personally, I'd go for the Famas.

The best gun is based on your own skill. Some guns take less skill then others.
