Does Halo 2 take place in Greece? I thought it did because of Spartan in the game. Spartans are residents of Sparta in Ancient Greece. And I heard of Athens somewhere in the game too. Athens is also a main city in Ancient Greece like Sparta. Please correct me if I'm wrong because I beat the game but I don't think I heard of Greece in the game, I might have missed it.

Masterchief is referred to as a Spartan soldier because the spartans were like the best of the best, and no the game does not take place in Greece I believe it takes place in Africa while you are doing the missions in Earth.=)
No, it does not take place in Greece, in Ancient Greece Sparta every man was sent to train as a soldier at age 8. Every woman is supposed to keep fit so their sons are strong for the army. So Sparta is very strong.That is where I think the name comes from. Athens is one of the Military Bases in Level 1. And I am new here so I don't know if you can change your name
Actually they train when they are seven, but that rule could have changed over the past few thousand years.
It says in the first halo book that the spartans were ancient unbeatable warriors which is the only reason that the master cheif is called a spartan.
No halo takes place on the delta halo, alpha halo, the ark, kenya,mombassa and a whole lotta other places in Africa.
You start in a ship called the Athens and after that you go to earth and it's in a city called Metropolis.
