I can't seem to get past the Bargate Prison Diary Code game....
Can someone please direct me as to what I need to do?

Sneak up to the bulletin board on the other side of the table then press A.
Then you can get caught if you want, then go to the books and pick one. I can never seem to get the right one on the first try.
My suggestion is to use your archery skills. The skills section used for experience. Press down on movement stick to sneak as said in above answer
Sneak around the bookshelfs to the bulletin board and read the diary combination, then sneak back over the the diary's on the table and open one. You'll never get it on the first try, so you'll have to win another race and do it again.
