In Outskirts when you reach the building where you must defend yourself until the Hunters break down the doors, there are many heavy objects(trucks,crates,etc.) you can use to trap Covenant in the areas where they spawn.

(Works best with Sputnik Skull)

Use the two trucks to block the entrances the grunts and elites come through on the sides of the building.

Use the biggest crate to block the shielded jackal's and elite's entrance.

That narrows it down to about 1/4 the enemies that should be taken seriously!!!
