I chose to cover WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2009's Road to Wrestlemania mode. This mode is one of the 2 alternatives to last years 24/7 mode. In Road to Wrestlemania (hereby referred to as RTWM), you can select from 6 characters to play through about 15 to 22 weeks worth of matches, usually from the weeks prior to the Royal Rumble up to Wrestlemania. As well as having storylines and cutscenes specific to your chosen character, you can also unlock extras that can be used in exhibition mode. I used the European PAL PS2 version of the game but this guide should work for all other versions (except maybe Nintendo DS). #################### <vh1>Version History #################### 0.1 - 16/11/08 Finished introduction and formatting of the FAQ. The guide will be set up like the following example: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <ex01> Week # - Match Type Partner: Name of partner, if any Opponent(s): Names of opponents Difficulty Rating: from * to *****. This is based on my experience with each match. Mandatory Stipulation: Anything you MUST do in the match to proceed with storyline Bonus: Any optional action in the match which will result in an unlockable bonus. Guide: A rough guide to the specific match will be provided. If you have your own tactics, feel free to use them, mine are not the only way. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remember, the order in which you play the characters is completely up to you. If you're a Cena fan you may want to go through his storyline first, its completely optional. Just look at the contents at the top of this FAQ and use Find (CTRL-F) to search for the code which is in the <brackets> to find whichever character or particular week you need. So, with no further ado, on with the show! ################ <wt1>Walkthrough ################ ############# <hhh>Triple H ############# Storyline Difficulty Rating: ** Definitely the best storyline, starts hard but gets easier. General Tactics: Both of HHH's Finishers and one of his Signature moves will damage the head, so try to use other moves that also do this. He has some useful chops as grapples, and some ground moves like knee drop. Finishers: Pedigree - Facing The Groggy Opponent (Triangle) - Head Damage Pedigree 2 - Facing The Groggy Opponent (Direction and Triangle) - Head Damage Signatures: Spinebuster - Facing The Groggy Opponent - Body Damage Facebuster - Running - Head Damage ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th01> Week 1 - Triple Threat Opponents: Edge vs Kennedy Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Pin Edge to unlock Move Set 3 in Create-a-Moveset Guide: Triple Threat for Triple H. Tough one to start his RTWM off with. Make sure you beat on Edge, possibly double-teaming him with Kennedy. Then throw Kennedy out of the ring to pin Edge. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th02> Week 2 - Handicap One vs Two Opponents: Edge and Kennedy Difficulty Rating: **** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: This is similar to the last match, so use the same tactics. Even though they are on the same team this time. They are in the ring simultaneously, they don't need to tag in and out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th03> Week 3 - Singles Match Opponent: Randy Orton Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: You cannot win by pin or submission. Just beat up on Randy until the interference comes and causes the DQ. Use it to get used to HHH's moves. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th04> Week 4 - No DQ Handicap One vs Two Opponents: Edge and Kennedy Difficulty Rating: ***** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: This is the same match as Week 2, except this time you have weapons at your disposal! Make the most of them, before your opponents do! Use the same tactics as Week 2, isolate an opponent and beat on him, throwing out the other opponent in order to pin. A nice trick is to store up a signature, then get your momentum bar full again. Pedigree to one of the opponents, then immediately Spinebuster to the other. Should keep em both down long enough for you to pin one. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th05> Royal Rumble - Tag Team Match Partner: Randy Orton Opponents: Edge and Mr Kennedy Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: A simple tag match. Isolate one and hope that Randy can deal with the other. Not too hard. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th06> Week 5 - Singles Match Opponent: Mr Kennedy Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Another simple singles match. Use it to fine-tune your usage of Triple H. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th07> Week 6 - Tag Team Match Partner: Shawn Michaels Opponents: Cade and Murdoch Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Same exact tactics as the Royal Rumble. Not a hard match. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th08> Week 7 - Tag Team Match Partner: Randy Orton Opponents: London and Kendrick Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: If Triple H gets the pin, you unlock Jillian Hall as a playable character. Guide: Yet another simple tag match. Make sure Trips is the one to get the win. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th09> Week 8 - Singles Match Opponent: Shelton Benjamin Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Just a singles match. Use it to perfect your usage of the Game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th10> No Way Out - Special Guest Referee Singles Match Opponents: HBK vs Orton Difficulty Rating: * Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: This is where the Triple H RTWM gets interesting... You should save twice in the locker room so you can come back and complete both storylines. As the guest referee, you can choose who wins this match. Who you choose will determine which path you take. Use the X button to count for pins or countouts, although a countout will result in a rematch option. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you let Randy Orton win: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th11> Week 9 (Evolution) - Handicap One on Three Partners: Randy Orton and Batista Opponent: Shawn Michaels Difficulty Rating: * Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Stupidly easy. You cannot win by pinfall or submission, so just beat on HBK until the match automatically ends. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th12> Week 10 (Evolution) - Singles Match Opponent: Shawn Michaels Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Again, you cannot win by pin or submission. Just beat up HBK until the interference gives you a DQ and the match ends automatically shortly after. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th13> Week 11 (Evolution) - Tag Match Partner: Orton Opponents: Shawn Michaels and Cody Rhodes Difficulty Rating: * Mandatory Stipulation: You must make Randy lose this match. Bonus: Guide: Really simple, just tag yourself straight out so Orton is the legal man, then run away. Go up the ramp if you want. Just stay away so Randy loses. Although, if it looks like he is gonna win, you might wanna run into the ring and beat him up for a bit. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th14> Week 12 (Evolution) - Singles Match Opponent: Batista Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Win in less than 2:30 to unlock Evolution's Entrance music and video in Create-an-Entrance. Guide: This wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the timer. Batista has a lot of moves that can make the match go really slowly. Just beat on him and go for the pin within the time limit. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th15> Wrestlemania (Evolution) - Triple Threat Match Opponents: Randy Orton vs Shawn Michaels Difficulty Rating: **** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Win to unlock Ric Flair as a playable character Guide: Exactly the same as HHH's first match on his RTWM. Can be a tough match but if you use the same tactics as that match you will be triumphant! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you let Shawn Michaels win: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th16> Week 9 (DX) - Handicap One vs Two w/managers Partner: Shawn Michaels (manager) Opponents: Batista and Orton w/ Ric Flair Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: This match isn't as daunting as it looks, due to not needing to score a pinfall or submission to win. You just need to knock both Orton and Batista down to the mat to win. Not on their knees, however, but flat on their backs, so you will need to do some damage. A couple of Pedigree's should do the trick. Flair and HBK won't do a thing, so ignore them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th17> Week 10 (DX) - Handicap Tag vs Trio Partner: Shawn Michaels Opponents: Batista, Orton and Flair Difficulty Rating: **** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: What a match this would be in real life, D-Generation X vs Evolution! Its quite a toughy here too. Use usual tag tactics, like isolating an opponent and hoping HBK can take out both guys on the apron. You might need to help knock them down before you go for the pin. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th18> Week 11 (DX) - Singles Match Opponent: Orton Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Give Orton 3 x Pedigree to unlock DX music, video and animations in Create-an-Entrance Guide: Nice simple singles match. Make sure you give Orton 3 of the same type of Pedigree to get the bonus. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th19> Week 12 (DX) - Tornado Tag Elimination Tables Match Partner: Shawn Michaels Opponents: Batista and Orton Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: This match isn't too bad. Pick one opponent and beat on him, while HBK takes care of the other. The tables are nicely set up already for you, so once you have a Signature stored or have full momentum, whip them into the table and press Triangle to Pedigree them through it. Then do the same with the other opponent for the win. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <th20> Wrestlemania (DX) - Singles Match Opponent: Shawn Michaels Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Win to unlock both Triple H's and Shawn Michaels' 2nd Attire. Guide: A nice simple singles match, easy way to finish Triple H's RTWM. Pick up the win to get the bonus. Not hard at all. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Congratulations, you just cleared Triple H's Road to Wrestlemania! ############## <cmp>CM Punk ############## Storyline Difficulty Rating: ** I am not a huge CM Punk fan. Even so, the storyline was a bit lacklustre. General Tactics: Both of Punk's finishers and one of his Signature moves will damage the head, so try to use other moves that also do this. His running attack is a useful superkick, and 2 of his ground grapples at the head are leg drops and knees which are also head-damaging. Finishers: Go To Sleep - Facing The Groggy Opponent - Head Damage Anaconda Vice - At the opponent's head on the ground - Head Submission Signatures: Knee to Face and Bulldog - Opponent in turnbuckle (Triangle) - Head and Body Damage Tarantula - Opponent in turnbuckle (Direction and Triangle) - Body Damage ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <cm01> Week 1 - Singles Match Opponent: Jeff Hardy Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: A nice, simple one-on-one contest to start off Punk's storyline. Use this match to get used to Punk's moves and control style, and use a couple of finisher's just to be sure. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <cm02> Week 2 - 1 vs 1 Extreme Rules Match Opponent: Jeff Hardy Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Put Jeff through a table to unlock CM Punk's 2nd Attire. Guide: Even easier than the previous match, just use all the weapons at your disposal. Put him through at table at some point to get your bonus, and remember that pins and submissions need to be done inside the ring. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <cm03> Week 3 - Tag Team Match Partner: Jeff Hardy Opponents: Elijah Burke and John Morrison Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: A simple tag match, use all the usual tag strategies like stopping your opponent tagging etc. When you go for the win, your partner is usually smart enough to intercept the opponent's partner from breaking up the count. You may find submissions to be easier if you are struggling. From System Error: Jeff starts the match with yellow leg damage, in accordance with the voicemail you get from him before the match. It probably won't affect much should you decide to tag him in, though. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <cm04> Week 4 - Single w/ manager vs w/ manager Partner: Tommy Dreamer w/ CM Punk Opponents: Elijah Burke w/ John Morrison Difficulty Rating: * Mandatory Stipulation: Help Tommy win Bonus: None Guide: This match couldn't be easier. You can't get in ring yet, so don't concern yourself with how Dreamer is doing. Just run over and beat on Morrison. After a while, he will run into the ring and attack Dreamer, giving him the win by DQ. Use this as your cue to join in, and beat down on both guys for a while until the match automatically ends. From System Error: The same weird tricks you can pull on Taker Week 6 work here as well. It just seems a little harder to do as Punk for whatever reason (maybe partially because Morrison moves around too much) I somehow managed to lose this by DQ once, when I was testing the premature DQ glitch. I somehow kept screwing up hitting Morrison with the sledgehammer while Tommy and Elijah were duking it out near the bottom left turnbuckle. It was hitting him towards them, and "DQ" popped up before Morrison even got in the ring, and it took me to the rematch screen. One that you properly weren't meant to see at that! This probably works in Santino/Finlay in Taker's, too. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <cm05> Royal Rumble - Extreme Rules Single Opponent: Tommy Dreamer Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: none Bonus: None Guide: Use the exact same tactics as you did in Week 2. From System Error: This is actually a Falls Count Anywhere Match, regardless of the "Extreme Rules" monkier and announcement. You can tell because you don't get the weapon ring when you go to search for a weapon, and if you save the match on the Highlight Reel, that's why it will be fall. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <cm06> Week 5 - Single No Contest Opponent: Elijah Burke Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: There is no way to win this match. Just beat up on Burke until the match ends automatically. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <cm07> Week 6 - Singles Match Opponent: John Morrison Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Another simple singles match. Use it to fine-tune your use of Punk. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <cm08> Week 7 - Singles Match Opponent: Elijah Burke Difficulty Rating: * Mandatory Stipulation: Lose by DQ Bonus: None Guide: Yet another easy match in Punk's storyline. Just go out of the ring, get a weapon, hit Burke to lose by DQ. Done. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <cm09> Week 8 - Backstage Brawl Opponent: Elijah Burke Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: This is getting silly. Another match where you just beat on someone for a while until the match ends automatically. At least this one is backstage, so try whipping Burke into things to hurt him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <cm10> No Way Out - Opponent: Big Daddy V Difficulty Rating: **** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Win in less than 2:30 to unlock Layla as a playable character Guide: I gave this a **** because I assume that you are gonna go after the bonus. Finally a challenge! Use all your best head damaging moves, which you should have mastered by now and try to be as quick as possible. Two and a half minutes should just be enough time to beat this guy. I recommend saving before this fight in case you miss the timer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <cm11> Week 9 - Last Man Standing Opponent: Elijah Burke Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Another annoying match where you cannot win. Just beat on Burke until he stays down for a count of 5 (Yes, only 5!). After the 5 count the match will end andyou will lose due to interference. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <cm12> Week 10 - Triple Threat Opponents: Big Daddy V and John Morrison Difficulty Rating: **** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Pin Morrison to unlock Locker Room backstage area. Guide: This match can be annoying, especially if you let V get in too many power moves. The best tactics are always the cheap ones, so try to get V to help you beat up Morrison, then throw V over the ropes and pin Morrison for the 1,2,3. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <cm13> Week 11 - Singles Match Opponent: Elijah Burke Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: This is just a simple one-on-one match. Utilize all the practice you've got from playing as Punk and just go for the win against a not too difficult opponent. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <cm14> Week 12 - Singles Match w/ manager vs no manager Manager: Tommy Dreamer Opponent: John Morrison Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Another simple match, this time you have Tommy Dreamer in your corner. Use the same tactics as in the previous match. From System Error: Oddly, unlike Jeff, Tommy has no damage on his limbs, despite his similar claims that he's not 100% in the voicemail. After the cutscene, you can pick from Extreme Rules, Steel Cage or Table match for 'Mania. It doesn't matter which you choose for storyline purposes, so pick whichever you think might be your strongest. I chose Tables. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <cm15> Wrestlemania part 1 - Either 2 vs 2 Extreme Rules, Steel Cage, or Table Match Partner: Tommy Dreamer Opponents: Elijah Burke and Tazz Difficulty Rating: **** for Extreme Rules, *** for Cage, ** for Tables Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: The obvious tactic here is divide and conquer. Try to keep whoever you are fighting with away from your partner and his opponent. Table Guide: There should be a few tables around the ring, so pick your victim, throw him out to the arena floor and pummel him with a table until you are in special. Then, set up the table, irish whip him into it and use your special to end the match. Cage Guide: My tactic on cage matches is to continue beating down one guy, let Dreamer and his opponent battle. If Dreamer tries to climb out, don't let him. Let one of your opponents climb out, which will leave them in a 2 vs 1 handicap match. Continue to beat down your one remaining opponent until Dreamer climbs out, then follow him out (making sure your opponent is down long enough) for the victory. Extreme Rules: This is basicly the opposite to the Table match. Instead of leaving the ring and letting Dreamer stay inside, you want Dreamer and his opponent to leave the ring. Best tactic is to smack your opponent up a bit until the other 2 leave the ring, then smack him with a finisher or submission and hope that Dreamer can keep the otherguy occupied long enough to secure the win. From System Error: Just like the Royal Rumble, "Extreme Rules" is actually Falls Count Anywhere. I noticed this because of the lack of the weapon ring when getting a weapon, and when I used the Anaconda Vice during Part 2 on the outside by accident, Tommy submitted. Immediately after this match, you move on to: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <cm16> Wrestlemania part 2 - Singles Match that matches the previous match Opponent: Tommy Dreamer Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Win to unlock Tazz as a playable character. Guide: A one-on-one match vs your partner, in the same gimmick as the previous tag match. Just go to town, not too difficult. From System Error: You keep your limb damage from the previous match, so you might want to try either not to get beat up too much or let Tommy get beat up a lot in the previous match. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Congratulations, you just cleared CM Punk's Road to Wrestlemania! ############### <tkr>Undertaker ############### Storyline Difficulty Rating: ** Quite a good storyline, although kinda far-fetched. General Tactics: Both of Taker's finishers and one of his Signature moves will damage the head, so try to use other moves that also do this. He has alternating chops as quick grapples, and a leg drop as a ground grapple to utilize. Finishers: Tombstone Piledriver - Facing The Groggy Opponent - Head Damage Triangle Choke - At the opponent's head on the ground - Head Damage Signatures: Chokeslam - Facing the Groggy Opponent (Triangle) - Body Damage Old School - Facing the Groggy Opponent (Direction and Triangle) - Head Damage ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <tr01> Week 1 - Singles Match Opponent: Santino Marella Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Your run-of-the-mill singles match to start you off. Use it to get used to the Undertaker's moves and the way he plays. And take your time. Try to win in over 3 minutes. Trust me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <tr02> Week 2 - Singles Match Opponent: Finlay Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Win in less time than you did in Week 1 to unlock Hornswoggle as a Non-Playable manager. Guide: If you were really quick last week, you're gonna have a hell of a time. If you were nice and slow last week, just be that little bit faster this week to get the prize. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <tr03> Week 3 - Singles Match Opponent: The Great Khali Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: You cannot win this by pinfall or submission. Just beat on Khali until the interference causes you to lose by DQ. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <tr04> Week 4 - Singles Match Opponent: Edge Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Just another singles match. More practice time. Pin at your leisure. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <tr05> Royal Rumble - Handicap One vs Tag Opponents: Santino and Finlay Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Imagine it's a tag match. Isolate one guy and beat on them. When you think you have them beaten, make sure to knock his partner off the apron before you go for the pin/submission. From System Error: You start this match off with all parts having yellow damage. Which makes things a lot harder. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <tr06> Week 5 - Singles Match Opponent: Kane Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: Give Kane 2 x Tombstone Piledriver Bonus: None Guide: Not too hard. You need to Tombstone Kane twice to win. After the first one, Kane's momentum meter will fill up, so watch for that. Otherwise, quite simple. From System Error: You didn't mention that there's a time limit of 10 minutes. Something like that. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <tr07> Week 6 - Singles Match w/managers Opponents: Kane w/Taker vs Finlay w/ Santino Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: You can't get into the ring at first, so go over and beat on Santino. After a while, he will run into the ring for the DQ, so follow him in and beat on both opponents until the match ends automatically. From System Error: During Week 6 of Taker's RTWM, you can perform a few fun tricks. First off, try getting in a fight with Santino on the outside. After a while, he'll start reversing literally EVERY move you do. You can still perform your own reversals, of course, but he can reverse your reversals in some cases, and only attacks if you attack first. He also eventually loses interest. He only fights back (save the occasional, normal reversal) until the point where he is supposed to get in the ring. It goes without saying that it'd be wise to get him away from the ring first if you want to try it. There's no point to this, but it's fun to see how long you can keep it up before he can make it back. Theoretically, you may be able to keep it up long enough until Finlay wears down Kane enough so that he'll tap to a submission move (the CPU doesn't seem to go for pins here, but they do go for submissions, and Finlay has the Submission ability, which allows you to make opponents tap out with non-finisher submissions - he might even do it with his normal move). If that happens...I don't know. Also during Week 6, you can actually perform a strange glitch. Run over to the left side of the ring as soon as the fight begins and grab a weapon - it will usually be a sledgehammer. Now take it and walk up to Santino. Stand behind him, and use your Up+Square attack. Santino should fall over, disappear briefly, and reappear in the ring, causing the DQ to happen prematurely. He'll then get up and just stand there. The ref will walk over to him, and they'll argue for a bit, and they'll both stand still. You can't get in the ring yourself, but you can grab Santino's legs. If you do it a couple times (once to turn him around, once to attack), he'll stagger around the ring like anyone who gets hit with that attack does, and eventually stop again. Whatever the case, his AI will eventually "wake up" and begin to attack as usual. On *VERY* rare occasions, though, Kane may decide to go after Santino instead (if it doesn't happen almost immediately after he gets in the ring and while Finlay is down, it won't work). If this happens, Finlay will be the one who stands still, and Santino and Kane will duke it out for a while. Most of the time, when Kane decides to go after Santino, he won't fight back, but Finlay might. He may even decide to try and attack you, but futilely. Before the point where the DQ is supposed to happen, all weapons are infinitely durable. Most break or are dropped after four hits, but before that point, they won't break! This leads to a strange problem if where you retrieve a weapon from under the ring and use Restart Match before the DQ happens, the weapons won't appear. To get them to reappear after doing this, you need to let the DQ happen proper (if you use the premature DQ glitch, you should be aware that the weapons won't reset until after Santino starts moving) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <tr08> Week 7 - Tag Team Match Partner: Kane Opponents: Curt Hawkins and Zach Ryder Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Brothers of Destruction reunited! Nice simple tag match, isolate and conquer. Have fun with this one. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <tr09> Week 8 - Singles Match Opponent: Finlay Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Make Finlay bleed to unlock Brothers of Destruction entrance moves Guide: Another nice simple singles match. Best way to make him bleed is to whip him into the ring post from the outside, then grapple him to ram his head into the post. Pin or submit and we're done. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <tr10> No Way Out - Falls Count Anywhere Tornado Tag Partner: Kane Opponents: Finlay and Santino Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Could be hard if it wasn't for sneakiness. Pick and opponent and throw him out of the ring. Whip him all the way down the entrance ramp until you're near the Titantron. Then beat on him there, leaving Kane to fend for himself (he can cope). If you pin up here, there's no way his partner can get to you in time to break up the count. From System Error: Another way to deal with this, albeit riskier, is to just beat on your opponent and let Kane get the pin. He's usually good enough to handle things on his own, but it'd be wise to keep an eye on him. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <tr11> Week 9 - Ladder Match Opponent: Santino or Finlay Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: You can pick which opponent you face. It doesn't really matter for storyline purposes which one you pick. The same things will happen, just to a different person. Although, you might want to save twice here, so that you can come back and repeat the storyline with the other person and unlock their second costume. Anyway, the match is quite easy. Hit your opponent with the ladder a lot to make them injured. Make sure you store a signature move. Climb the ladder, try to grab the urn with either the Left or Right Sticks, or both if you are in position. When your opponent tries to climb the ladder as well, release both sticks and press Triangle when he is at the top to Superplex him off the ladder onto the arena floor. Then climb and repeat. If you don't have a signature stored, then you will have to endure a punching contest at the top of the ladder until you are in special. Keep doing this until you pull down the urn and win. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <tr12> Week 10 - Handicap One on Tag Partner: Whoever you picked in Week 11 Opponent: Whoever you didn't pick in Week 11 Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Doesn't it feel good to be on the plus side of a handicap match? Anyway, you have an extra man. Tag him in if you want, but he will be controlled by the CPU, so it might get a little dull. Either way, beat on the opponent and just pin or submit to win. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <tr13> Week 11 - Singles Match Opponents: Rey Mysterio vs Week 11 choice Difficulty Rating: * Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: If Rey wins, you unlock the 2nd costume of your pick in Week 11 Guide: This is so easy, fun at first then just annoying. Basicly, you are outside the ring and Rey's opponent is under your control... kinda. You can do 3 things from out here: Press Square to make your minion freeze for a small amount of time Press a direction on the pad to taunt. Your momentum bar fills up after just one taunt which lets you... Press Triangle to make your minion punch themselves in the face. So yeah, this is basicly a puppet match. Make sure your minion loses. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <tr14> Week 12 - Singles Match Opponent: Whoever you didn't pick in Week 11 Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Just a singles match. You should be an expert with Taker now, if not then here is your chance to practice. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <tr15> Wrestlemania - Hell in a Cell Single Opponent: The Boogeyman Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Win to unlock The Boogeyman as a playable character. Guide: Have fun with this one. Beat down on Boogey hard. Using the Cell as a weapon is always a good tactic. You can leave the Cell and go outside to find weapons. Put him through the announce table perhaps? Or, climb up the Cell and throw him off? My personal favourite - Slam him through the roof of the Cell! Make sure you pin him inside the ring though. From System Error: I don't think there are weapons under the ring in Hell in a Cell matches. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Congratulations, you just cleared The Undertaker's Road to Wrestlemania! ############## <cna>John Cena ############## Storyline Difficulty Rating: *** Despite not being a Cena fan, I found the story to be solid and entertaining. General Tactics: Both of Cena's finishers and both of his Signature moves will damage the head, so try to use other moves that also do this. He has alternating chops as quick grapples, and a leg drop as a ground grapple to utilize. Finishers: F-U - Facing The Groggy Opponent - Head and Body Damage STF-U - At the opponent's feet on the ground - Head and Body Submission Signatures: 5-Knuckle Shuffle - At the opponent's head on the ground - Head Damage Diving Leg Drop - Opponent in turnbuckle - Head Damage ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <ca01> Week 1 - Singles Match Opponent: Mr Kennedy Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: A nice simple singles match to start off Cena's RTWM. Use it to get used to his moves and the way he plays. From System Error: I noticed that sometimes, Kennedy will get out of the ring and try to avoid you. It may be a behavior specific to certain RTWM matches. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <ca02> Tribute to the Troops - Singles Match Opponent: MVP Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Win by submission to unlock Tribute to the Troops Arena Guide: Use the same tactics as the previous match, except make MVP tap out rather than winning by pinfall. From System Error: This is actually Week 2 (in reference to it being missing in your comments on Week 3). Despite the fact that it's an event, it still counts as a Week. Probably because it's not a PPV. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <ca03> Week 3 - Singles Match Opponent: William Regal Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Another simple match. Same as Week 1. Pin it and Win it. (What happened to Week 2? hmmmm...) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <ca04> Week 4 - Tag Team Match Partner: Jeff Hardy Opponents: Umaga and William Regal Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: (Haha, I love the way Regal pronounces You-Man-Ga :P) Nice simple tag match, try to isolate Regal and stop him from tagging in the Samoan Bulldozer. If he does, just keep beating him down until you can pin. Like I said before, your partner should be smart enough to run in and stop your opponent's partner from breaking up a pinfall. If not, try using submissions instead. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <ca05> Royal Rumble - Singles Match No manager vs w/manager Opponents: Umaga w/ William Regal Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: (I'm unsure whether the scene with Kane is relevant, maybe he will interfere in the match if it lasts long enough... however, I've never seen it) You cannot win this match by pin or submission. Just keep beating up on Umaga, try to ignore Regal, and wait until the interference hands you the victory by DQ. Then, try to survive the beatdown from Regal, Umaga and MVP. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <ca06> Week 5 - Singles Match Opponent: Mr Kennedy Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: A simple singles match, exactly the same as week 1. Treat it as such and use it to fine-tune your skill with Cena. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <ca07> Week 6 - 1 vs 3 Handicap Match Opponents: MVP, William Regal and Umaga Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: This match could be really difficult - if you had to win it. Luckily, its another one where you just have to survive long enough for the match to finish. Just beat on the other 3 for a while. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <ca08> Week 7 - Tag Team Match Partner: Jeff Hardy Opponents: William Regal and Umaga Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Give both Regal and Umaga an F-U to unlock Tony as a playable character Guide: This isn't too bad. The trick is to give Regal an F-U as soon as you can, then just hang back until he tags in Umaga. Give him an F-U just to be sure, then go on to win the match like any other tag match. Here are some more wonderful tips from Chewy44: For the tag matches that you have to do a finisher on each of your opponents I hated waiting 10+ minutes sometimes for my opponent who is completely red to tag, then when he did he would tag the person I already did a finisher on (see Rey/Batista Week 11 good). I discovered that they don't have to be a legal man or even in the ring when you do the finisher for it to count. So here is a quick easy way to get the bonuses for Cena week 7 and Rey/Batista Week 11 good, I think those are the only ones with this stipulation for the bonus. Fill bar perform finisher on wrestler 1. Fill bar exit ring, normally an opponent jumps off the apron if not just hit him and perform finisher on wrestler 2. If there are only 2 opponents go back in the ring and pin at your leisure. If there is a third opponent (see Rey/Batista Week 11 good) repeat the steps for wrestler 2 on wrestler 3, it helps if you exit the ring on what ever side of the corner they are on. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <ca09> Week 8 - Singles Match Opponent: Snitsky Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: A simple on-on-one singles match. Easy match, use it as a practice session. From System Error: You can lose this fight, and the storyline will still continue. All it seems to do is change the cutscene after the match. So if you're really having trouble with it, you can make it easier by jobbing if you want. I haven't checked to see if it changes anything later - but I do know that the first match afterward doesn't change. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <ca10> No Way Out - Gauntlet Match Opponents: William Regal, Umaga and MVP Difficulty Rating: ***** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: This is a tough match. You have to face Regal, Umaga and MVP one after the other, and you start with your head and body in yellow. There are also special rules in this match: - You have to pin each opponent for a count of 5, instead of 3. They only have to pin you for a 3 count though. - You can be counted out, but your opponents cannot. - You cannot use rope breaks, but your opponents can. So this can be a really hard match. You start against Regal. Try to take him out ASAP, and save as much energy as you can. Submissions are useful in all of these matches. Next is Umaga, again try to be quick. Don't rush though, as it doesn't take much for you to get beat. Finally is MVP. Hopefully you have enough left to finish the job. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <ca11> Week 9 - Backstage Brawl Opponent: William Regal Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: Win by KO Bonus: None Guide: Before the match, you get to pick whether you smack him up in the locker room or backstage. It doesn't matter for storyline purposes, so pick whichever you want. Just beat down on Regal until he is KO'd. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <ca12> Week 10 - Singles Match Opponent: Umaga Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: Put Umaga through a table Bonus: None Guide: Tommy Dreamer will be lying on the floor outside the ring for this entire match, as he will have just "lost" to Umaga. Not too hard, just put him through a table to clear. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <ca13> Week 11 part 1 - Single No manager vs w/manager Partner: Jeff Hardy Opponents: MVP and Snitsky Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Make MVP bleed to unlock Snitsky as a playable character Guide: Before you start, you can choose to bring either a Sledgehammer, Baseball Bat or Barbed Wire 2X4 to the ring with you. The objective is to make MVP bleed, so I chose the 2X4, but it doesn't matter which you choose. As soon as MVP and Jeff start their match, you will enter from the crowd with your weapon of choice. Start pummeling MVP. Best way to make him bleed is to whip him into the ring post from the outside, then grapple him to ram his head into the post. After he bleeds, MVP will run away up the ramp to end the match. After a cutscene, you move straight on to... From System Error: I'm not sure how it happened, but the match once ended prematurely for me. I think it was because I tried to hit Snitsky with a weapon, and he reversed, and hit me with it. Whatever the case, it ultimately caused the match to end by DQ. The cutscene afterward was still the same. I'm not sure if it can happen if Jeff or MVP do the same (but if the AI for them is the same as "normal" computer opponents, they'd likely just drop it if they reverse and grab a weapon). Another good way to make MVP bleed is to do DDTs (Ultimate Control Right, then down), and Cena's running facebuster (run and press up or down on the right stick). Also, unless I'm missing something, I don't think you can slam his head into the post, at least as Cena. You just slam his arm instead if you try. (Cena has 2 different moves into the turnbuckle, one is the arm attack, the other is the head attack.- CrollsY) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <ca14> Week 11 part 2 - Singles Match Opponent: Snitsky Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Easy Easy Easy. Nothing special about this match, just beat Snitsky. From System Error: Something to note about this if you use restarts or quits to do challenges over - if you fail the challenge on Part 11, and get into the match against Snitsky, quitting the match and starting it again or restarting it will drop you back in the Snitsky match. I learned this after the random DQ loss. On the other hand, you can use this to your advantage if you want, so you can save after the first part. I'm not sure if it applies to other segmented matches, though. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <ca15> Week 12 - Singles Match Opponent: Mr Kennedy Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Win in less that 2:30 to unlock Gauntlet match in Exhibition Guide: This is a lot easier that Punk's timed challenge. You should be used to all of Cena's moves by now, so go for the ones that damage the head to make this match go quicker. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <ca16> Wrestlemania - 15 Minute Iron Man Match Opponent: MVP Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Win the match to unlock Army Jeep in Create-An-Entrance Guide: First up, this match has the same rules as the Gauntlet match at No Way Out, such as the 5 count pin etc. It's not too hard though, just keep beating on MVP until you get a pinfall/submission, lather, rinse, repeat. Just watch out immediately after you get a pin or submission, as MVP will instantly recover all his damage and probably go straight after you! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Congratulations, you just cleared John Cena's Road to Wrestlemania! ################## <y2j>Chris Jericho ################## Storyline Difficulty Rating: **** This storyline started well, but kinda faded towards the end General Tactics: One of Jericho's Finishers damage the head, the other damages the body. The same goes for his Signatures. Try to use a variation of moves, rather than concentrating on one area. He has 2 quick grapples that are useful chops and punches. Finishers: Codebreaker - Facing The Groggy Opponent - Head Damage Walls of Jericho - At the opponent's feet on the ground - Body and Leg Submission Signatures: Enzeguiri - Facing The Groggy Opponent - Head Damage Lionsault - At the opponent's head on the ground - Body Damage ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <yj01> Week 1 - Singles Match Opponent: Jeff Hardy Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: (I REALLY hate the version of Jericho's music they use in this game!) A nice, simple match to start off Jericho's RTWM. Use it to get used to Jericho's moves and the way he plays. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <yj02> Week 2 part 1 - Backstage Brawl Opponent: Finlay Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: Win using the Walls of Jericho Bonus: None Guide: You have 5 minutes, in the locker room. Beat the crap outta Finlay until his body is in red, then make him submit with the Walls of Jericho. Not too hard. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <yj03> Week 2 part 2 - 4-Man Battle Royal Opponents: Mr Kennedy, Shawn Michaels and Randy Orton Difficulty Rating: **** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Luckily, this isn't a Fatal 4 Way, so if you do pin someone, the others will leave you to it. Choose a victim and beat on him until you can pin them or make them submit, which will eliminate them. Then, gang up on one of the other 2 competitors to eliminate another one, then beat up on the last remaining competitor. Just a heads-up: There's no rope breaks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <yj04> Week 3 - Tag Team Match Partner: Jeff Hardy Opponents: Finlay and Snitsky Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Pin Finlay to unlock WCW Roster Group and WCW Title Guide: Much simpler compared to last week. Just your usual tag match, do what you need to do to win. Just make sure Jericho pins Finlay if you want the bonus. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <yj05> Week 4 - Singles Match Opponent: Shawn Michaels Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Just another singles match, although HBK has a habit of kicking out at 2 even when he is red all over. Just persist though, you will beat him eventually. Think of it as Jericho practice. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <yj06> Royal Rumble - Singles Match Opponent: John Cena Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: You cannot win this match. It's not possible. All you can do is fight it out with Cena until the interference. When it comes, you must grapple the guy to steal his weapon, then hit him with it. If he hits you or Cena with the weapon, you will have to restart the match. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <yj07> Week 5 - Singles Match Opponent: JBL Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Just a singles match, use it to perfect your usage of Jericho. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <yj08> Week 6, 7, 8 - Investigation Opponent: Multiple Difficulty Rating: * to *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Beat Jeff Hardy without using finishers to unlock Y2J's 2nd attire Guide: OK, so here is where the Jericho storyline gets confusing. You are presented with a list of suspects, and this will be the case for the next 2 weeks as well. You can pick your choice as to who you want to interrogate, here is what will happen with each suspect choice. Shawn Michaels: No Match. Back to suspect list. Shane McMahon: No Match. Back to suspect list. Randy Orton: Singles Match with Umaga. Mr Kennedy: Tornado Tag Team Match with Y2J and HBK vs Kennedy and Orton. Finlay: No Match. Back to suspect list. Jeff Hardy: Singles Match with him. So basicly, accusing HBK, Finlay and Shane O'Mac is an option, but it will only result in an extra cutscene and then you are sent back to the locker room to pick again. You need to have accused Randy, Kennedy and Jeff to proceed. You can do these in any order, but here are the tactics for the matches: If you interrogate Kennedy - Tornado Tag Team Match Partner: Shawn Michaels Opponents: Kennedy and Orton Difficulty: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Can be quite a tough one. Try to isolate one opponent and beat on them. One tactic is to throw both HBK and one of your opponents over the rope and hope that they fight outside. If you interrogate Orton - Singles Match Opponent: Umaga Difficulty: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Usual Singles match. Use it for practicing your moves. If you interrogate Hardy - Singles Match Opponent: Hardy Difficulty: **** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Win without using finishers to unlock Y2J's 2nd attire If you go for the bonus, this can be a bit tough, mainly because you end up pressing triangle by instinct and using a finisher. Basicly use your strongest moves but avoid the triangle button at all costs! Also note, about halfway through there will be interference, which will cause Jericho's momentum meter to empty. Be warned! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <yj09> No Way Out - Accusation! Singles Match Opponent: Either Kennedy or Masked Man Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Now comes the time to pick a path. Note that there are 2 different paths which end 2 different ways, so unless you want to start Y2J's RTWM again I suggest that you make 2 saves at this point so you can come back. Just save twice as 2 different files while in the locker room. If you accuse Orton - Singles Match Opponent: Masked Man Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Both of you start with full momentum. Just beat down on the Masked Man until you think he can be pinned, then press Left Stick Down to attempt to remove the mask. As soon as you do, the match will end automatically. If you accuse Kennedy - Singles Match Opponent: Kennedy Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Both of you start with full momentum. Just beat down on Kennedy. You cannot win, the match will end automatically. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <yj10> Week 9 - Singles Opponent: Cena vs Orton Difficulty Rating: * Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Very Easy. Interfere in the title match, hit Orton to get him DQ'd. Done. At this point, the path splits depending on who you accused. First, the path where you accused Orton. If you chose Kennedy, go further down. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <yj11> Week 10 (Orton) - Backstage Brawl Opponent: Masked Man Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: This is the same as the match at No Way Out, except you are backstage and so can cause more damage, more quickly. Use Left Stick Down to remove the mask. A small meter will appear in the top left, that empties when you attempt to remove the mask. When it empties the match will end. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <yj12> Week 11 (Orton) - Singles w/manager vs No manager Opponent: Cena w/ Jericho vs Orton Difficulty Rating: * Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: You can't do a thing. Just stand there. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <yj13> Week 12 (Orton) - 6-Man Battle Royal Opponents: Masked Men x 5 Difficulty Rating: **** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Treat this like a Royal Rumble. Pick a Masked Man, throw him over the rope, punch him twice then grapple him and hammer the buttons. Move on to the next one. Try to get one of the Masked Men to team up with you on anyone that goes over the rope. Be careful though - if 2 Masked Men get hold of you, you're finished. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <yj14> Wrestlemania (Orton) - Falls Count Anywhere Single Opponent: Orton Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Win to unlock Masked Man as a playable character. Guide: Not too bad. Beat him up like a normal singles match, but make use of all the lovely weapons under the ring and outside. Put him through the announce table for a bit of fun. Pin or Submission anywhere in the arena gets the job done. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Congratulations, you just cleared... Umm... Well, you cleared one path of Chris Jericho's Road to Wrestlemania! Now for the other path. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <yj15> Week 10 (Kennedy) - Singles Opponent: Cena Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: You cannot win this by pinfall or submission. Just beat him up until the interference causes you to lose by DQ. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <yj16> Week 11 (Kennedy) - Tag Team Match Partner: Cena Opponents: Orton and Kennedy Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: A normal tag match. Isolate one opponent and beat him until you can win. Hopefully your partner will be smart enough to knock off the opponent's partner. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <yj17> Week 12 (Kennedy) - Singles Opponent: Kennedy Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Make Kennedy bleed to unlock a Code Movie in Create-an-Entrance Guide: Just a simple singles match. Best way to make him bleed is to whip him into the ring post from the outside, then grapple him to ram his head into the post. Pin or submit and we're done. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <yj18> Wrestlemania (Kennedy) - Fatal 4-Way Extreme Rules Match Opponents: Orton vs Cena vs Kennedy Difficulty Rating: ***** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Win to unlock Masked Man as a playable character. Guide: Very, very tough. Firstly, select an opponent and stick with them. If you try to attack everyone you will only end up getting destroyed. Try to throw 2 opponents to the outside, leaving you in the ring with the other. There are many weapons under the ring that you can utilise. All pins and submissions must be done inside the ring. Try to watch out for the outside opponents to perform an action that will eat up a lot of time (such as getting a weapon from under the ring), and use that time to make the pin. With luck and perseverance, you'll come out on top. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Can I say it now? Good! Congratulations, you just cleared Chris Jericho's Road to Wrestlemania! ############################# <brm>Batista and Rey Mysterio ############################# Storyline Difficulty Rating: ***** I'm gonna go on record and say I hated this RTWM. From my point of view, there were too many different paths and it took me ages to document all of them. Throw in the fact that you don't know who people are going to be playing as (Either Rey, Batista or both in co-op) and you make for a nightmare! General Tactics - Rey: Rey's moves are all over the place. His Finishers damage both head and body, and his Signatures just damage the head. His regular grapples are mostly non-damaging generic cruiserweight moves, which is a pain. Finishers: 619 - Facing The Groggy Opponent (Triangle) - Body Damage 619 Pin - Facing The Groggy Opponent (Direction and Triangle) - Head Damage Signatures: Lucha-style Bulldog - Running - Head Damage Lucha-style DDT - Behind Groggy Opponent - Head Damage General Tactics - Batista: Batista's moves are a lot better, all of his Finishers and Signatures damage the body, as do a lot of his grapples and ground moves. Finishers: Batista Bomb - Facing The Groggy Opponent (Triangle) - Body Damage Spinebuster - Facing The Groggy Opponent (Direction and Triangle) - Body Damage Signatures: Jackhammer - Facing the Groggy Opponent - Body Damage Spear - Running - Body Damage It needs to be said here that this RTWM is extremely confusing. I have tried my best to make it as clear as possible, but you will have to bear with me. You can unlock everything by playing as just one character and not doing a co-op, so thats how this walkthrough is written, playing as Batista. I have included the match list for Rey Mysterio in case you are playing co-op or chose to play as Rey. I should also point out that it is possible to save the game in the locker room, exit from RTWM then re-enter. If you do this, the game will ask you to choose your character again, but you continue from where you saved, enabling you to play both matches if there are 2 each week, or to change it up a bit. Sometimes this is necessary to unlock certain bonuses, as I have detailed in the walkthrough. Also, due to the many branches and paths, you may have to double-check to make sure you are following the walkthrough for the correct path, especially as the differences in some of the paths are barely noticeable until you don't get an unlockable. Anyways, here we go. Good luck. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb01> Week 1 (Batista's Match) - Singles Opponent: The Miz Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: A nice simple match to start you off. Use it to get used to Big Dave's moves and the way he plays. After this match you will be back in the locker room. This is for people who chose to play as Batista or are doing co-op, or switched to Batista specially for this match using the method in the General Tactics section. If not, the computer will take care of the match for you, skipping straight to the victory scene afterwards. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb02> Week 1 (Rey's Match) - Singles Opponent: John Morrison Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: This match is if you chose to play as Rey, or are doing co-op. You can also save after Batista's match and change character to play this match as well. If this is the case, its a simple singles match to get you used to Rey and the way he plays. If you opt not to do any of the above, the computer will take care of the match for you, skipping straight to the victory scene afterwards. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb03> Week 2 - Tag Team Match Opponents: Hawkins and Ryder Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Simple tag match. Rey starts things off, so if you are Batista then keep tapping the X button to make him tag you in. Beat up on one opponent, and hope that Rey can knock the other one off the apron while you get the pin. This should be easier if playing co-op. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb04> Week 3 - Tag Team Match Opponent(s): Kane and Undertaker Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Exactly the same as the last match, except the opponents are a lot tougher. Use the same tactics though and you should come out on top. Once again, co-op is easier. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb05> Week 4 - Tag Team Match Opponents: Miz and Morrison Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Pin Morrison to unlock Rey Mysterio's 2nd Attire Guide: Another simple tag match, make sure you pin Morrison if you want the prize. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb06> Royal Rumble - Royal Rumble Match Opponents: Various, but includes both Rey and Batista Difficulty Rating: **** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: You really should save twice before this match, as this is one of the many path splits in this RTWM. Four guys will start in the ring, after a while Batista will come in, followed by The Miz, then Rey Mysterio, then Triple H. One of your 2 characters should win, you will get a slightly path depending on which one. You should try to gang up on people, by the time Batista walks slowly to the ring, some people should already be eliminated. Use the tactic of whip onto the apron, then 2 punches, then grapple and mash the buttons like you're playing International Track and Field. If you are playing co-op, you should work together until you are the last 2 left, at which point feel free to kill each other. Just remember that whoever wins the Rumble will have to lose next time you replay this storyline. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb07> Week 5 - Tag Team Match Opponents: Miz and Morrison Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: The next 4 weeks are the same, no matter who wins the Rumble. So you're gonna be seeing them all again. A rematch from week 4, use the same tactics to win. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb08> Week 6 - 6-Mag Tag Team Match Partner: Edge Opponents: John Cena, Shawn Michaels and Triple H Difficulty Rating: **** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Quite a tough match. Smackdown vs Raw quite literally here! Isolate one opponent (once you have tagged in of course) and beat them down. Hopefully your 2 partners should be able to take care of the other 2 opponents to get you the pin. This should be a lot easier in co-op, as you can knock them both off a lot easier than a CPU character can. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb09> Week 7 - Tag Team Match Opponents: Edge and Big Daddy V Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Spear Edge twice to unlock Hawkins and Ryder as playable characters Guide: The usual tag jibberish. I'm unsure if the stipulation for getting the bonus changes if you are play as Rey in single mode, as I refused to play this storyline again just to check (I didn't notice this problem until I had already played through about 7-8 times). If someone could let me know, I would appreciate it. Anyways, if you are playing as Batista or are in co-op, just hit the spear twice (its a signature move, run and press Triangle) to get the bonus and the win. According to the excellent Chewy44: For Rey/Batista week 7 "Spear Edge 2 times" You have to be Batista. It does not matter who's story you are playing just make sure Batista is human controlled for this match and spear Edge 2 times. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb10> Week 8 - Singles Match Opponents: Batista vs Rey Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: If playing as singles, just beat up you partner for a simple win. If you are playing co-op, you can have some fun with this. Good news is, it doesn't matter who wins, so use it as a contest between yourselves. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb11> No Way Out - No DQ Singles Match Opponent: Edge Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Save twice in the Locker Room (You should have 3 saves now :/) Ok, so here is where another split can happen. Basicly, whoever DIDN'T win the Rumble will be facing Edge here tonight. At first, its just the two of them in the ring, so if you are playing as that character or co-op, just wail on Edge (you cannot pin yet). After a while (if you are playing against Edge) or when you press the X button (if you are not in the match or playing co-op), the Royal Rumble winner will interfere. At this point, the match can be won or lost. Its up to you, as winning and losing open up another split in the storyline. I refer to winning this match as the "Good" ending, and losing as the "Bad" ending. You make the choice, but you will need to do both at some point to unlock everything. 2 different Rumble winners, each with a Good and Bad ending... I make that 4 different ways to finish this RTWM! Aarrrgh! The main reason I hate this storyline is that is NO other RTWM is there a new path open when you lose a match, unless it forces you to lose by DQ or it tells you to beforehand. If I didn't let my other half have a go at this match (and she's pretty bad), I would never have lost and would never have known about this extra path option. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- OK, so I'm going to do the good ending first. Note that the good ending is more or less the same for both characters winning the Rumble, side for a few switcheroos with who is in which match. In fact, you don't need to do both good endings to unlock everything, which takes the number of paths down to 3 :D woohoo! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb12> Week 9 (Good) (Rumble Winner's Match) - Singles Match Opponent: Big Daddy V Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Simple singles match. If you are playing as Batista and Rey won the Rumble, this match is optional (by exiting and re-entering as another character), or the CPU can take care of it for you. If you are playing as Rey and he won the Rumble, or playing as Batista and he won the Rumble, or playing co-op, this match is mandatory. But still quite easy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb13> Week 9 (Good) (Champion's Match) - Singles Match Opponent: Edge Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Another simple singles match. If you are playing as Batista and Rey won the Rumble, or playing as Rey and Batista won the Rumble, or playing co-op, this match is mandatory. If you are playing as Batista and you won the Rumble, or playing as Rey and you won the Rumble, this match is optional with character switching. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb14> Week 10 (Good) - Triple Threat Match w/manager Opponents: Royal Rumble Winner w/Champion vs Edge vs Big Daddy V Difficulty Rating: **** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: In co-op, this can be a breeze. If not, you had better hope that you are playing as the Rumble winner, otherwise it can be a nightmare. I highly recommend switching to play as the other character for this match if you are the Champ, because trying to convince the CPU character to pin, and take care of the other opponent at the same time is hard. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb15> Week 11 (Good) - Handicap Tag vs Trio Opponents: Miz, Morrison and The Great Khali Difficulty Rating: **** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Give all three opponents a Finisher to unlock Saturday Night's Main Event arena. Guide: Not as bad as the previous match, can be a lot easier in co-op. Treat it like a normal tag match but make sure you hit at least one opponent off the apron before going for the pin. If you want the bonus you need to do a little more. Give a finisher to the guy who starts, then whip him into his own corner and hope that he tags someone. Then give them a finisher and do the same to them. You might want to also knock the opponent that has already taken a finisher off the apron so that if the 2nd opponent tags out he won't tag the first guy back in instead of the 3rd guy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb16> Week 12 (Good) - Table Tornado Tag Opponents: Kane and Undertaker Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Use usual table match tactics. As always, co-op is a lot easier. Otherwise, try to be quick about it so that your CPU controlled partner doesn't get truly owned by whichever brother you are not fighting. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb17> Wrestlemania (Good) - Singles Match Opponents: Each Other Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Win to unlock Mr McMahon as a playable character Guide: In co-op, this is a breeze, as either one of you winning equals this RTWM being successfully cleared. If you are playing single, and the CPU guy wins, you need to rematch. Just a simple singles match so do your best. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now for the "Bad" endings. Note that the bad endings are more or less the same for both characters winning the Rumble, except a few matches are swapped, and you get different bonuses depending on who won the Rumble. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb18> Week 9 (Bad) - Tag Team Match Opponents: Kane and Undertaker Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Usual tag match. Same as in Week 3. Get the win and move on. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb19> Week 10 (Bad) - Tornado Tag Team Match Opponents: Miz and Morrison Difficulty Rating: * Mandatory Stipulation: You must lose this match. Bonus: If Batista won the Rumble, play as him and make Rey lose to unlock moveset 2 in Create-a-Moveset. If Rey won the Rumble, play as him and make Batista lose to unlock moveset 1 in Create-a-Moveset. Guide: OK, so here's the different unlockables section. Make sure you play as whoever won the Rumble in this match if you are playing singles. If you are playing co-op, you can choose who to make lose. Either way, you need to do this twice to get both bonuses. In single, just beat up your own partner and let Miz and Morrison do their thing. After this match, there are no more unlockables that depend on who won what or anything, so feel free to just carry on with one of your "Bad" ending saves. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb20> Week 11 (Bad) - One on Tag Handicap Match Opponents: Miz and Morrison Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: This match is for the Royal Rumble winner. The other character doesn't get a match this week. If you are playing as the RR winner, this is quite a tough match. Treat it like a tag team match, except you have to knock the opponent's partner off the apron yourself before going for the pin. This is the same for if you are playing co-op or choose to switch to this character by saving/exiting. If you are playing as the Non-Royal Rumble winner, the CPU will take care of this match. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb21> Week 12 (Bad) - Singles Opponent: Big Daddy V Difficulty Rating: ** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: None Guide: Usual singles match stuff. This one is for the guy who didn't get a match last week. As a result, the Royal Rumble winner doesn't get a match this week. You know how it works by now, this is for people playing as the non-RR winnner or co-op or who switched to this guy. Otherwise this match will be handled by the CPU. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- <rb22> Wrestlemania (Bad) - Triple Threat Match Opponents: Rey vs Batista vs Edge Difficulty Rating: *** Mandatory Stipulation: None Bonus: Win to unlock Mr McMahon as a playable character Guide: Can be tough in single mode. You should pick an opponent and beat them up then throw the other guy over the rope and go for the pin. In co-op mode, you should both gang up on Edge to take him out as best you can, then go at each other to decide the winner. Note that in co-op mode, it doesn't matter who wins out of Batista and Rey. In singles mode however, the character you are playing as must win to clear this RTWM. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- PHEW! Finally, its over. If you went back and did all the different paths, then I can say this to you: Congratulations, you have cleared Rey Mysterio and Batista's Road to Wrestlemania! ########################## <ggt>General Gameplay Tips ########################## From System Error If you're finding things too easy, go into Options and set the difficulty to Hard or higher. That will make things more interesting. I completely dominated through all of 'Taker's RTWM, but when I tried Cena's on Hard, I started getting reversed like no tommorow. Not as much as uberSantino/ uberMorrison or WWE/WHC in Career Mode, mind you, but still a lot more than on Normal. And Legend? It gets even worse! Note that setting it from the "My WWE" game menu doesn't work - you need to set it from within the RTWM itself.. Also note that those settings seem to be unified settings of their own - if you play Cena's RTWM on Normal, save, then play Jericho's and switch it to Hard, when you come back to Cena's, it'll be set on Hard as well. Similarly, if you're finding things too hard, such as certain challenges, set the difficulty to Easy and have at it. Note that setting the difficulty higher also seems to beef up your partner's AI, so in tag matches on higher difficulties, it might be wise to tag them in. In any match where you have a manager, if they get attacked on the outside (whether you did it or your opponent did it), they'll suddenly start attacking your opponent until they get back in the ring! No DQ will come as a result of this, so it can help in the tighter matches on higher difficulties. The only thing you need to watch out for is them keeping your opponent down there for too long, and them getting counted out (usually results in a rematch screen). Note that this also works in reverse, so if you beat on the opponent's manager, you can expect to be attacked. With any timed challenge (save the one Cena/Snitsky example I mentioned), keep in mind that you can use the Restart Match option to quickly restart if you run out of time. ################################ <faq1>Frequently Asked Questions ################################ Q: Do I have to unlock everything by playing RTWM? A: No, there are cheat codes that can unlock certain things. Check the cheats section for the game at gamefaqs.com Q: Who's your favourite wrestler? A: My favourites of all time are Roddy Piper, Mr Perfect, Triple H. My favourite current wrestlers are Hurricane Helms, Triple H, Santino Marella, Miz and Morrison. Q: Whose RTWM was the worst in your opinion? A: Rey and Batista's was bad from my point of view, as I had to replay the thing about 7 or 8 times to get all the possible paths. And all without a second player :D Q: I have having difficulty with winning in a handicap match/winning in under 2:30 A: Here is some great help sent in by Chewy44: Here are some alternate methods that I found helpful with handicap tag matches, tag matches or the beat "X" in under 2:30 minutes. This only works if you can win by count out. For the tag matches select one person, I just used whoever was the starting opponent, and beat on them until you can store a signature move. Continue until you have your bar about full again and throw them outside the ring on the ramp side, follow them out and throw them up the ramp. I always tried to be at least half way up the ramp before beginning. An ultimate grapple normally fills up your bar again, if not follow with a couple ground strikes. Perform a finisher; the count is normally at 3-4 when I do this. Let your opponent lay there then when the count is at 7 pick them up do a signature move and run back into the ring. If your opponent gets up before 7 be prepared for a running attack, your quickest strong grapple, or a strike that will knock them down as they will immediately run to the ring and you have to start again. By this time the opponent has taken enough damage that by the time there is a 10 count they are still on the ground. You just have to know how long your wrestler's finishers/specials take so you can plan accordingly. I usually can win these matches in about a minute. Q: (Regarding Taker's RTWM) By the way, did you feel Santino wasn't really himself in that RTWM, too? I was half expecting him to say "The Underwear Taker" or something along those lines. A: I couldn't agree more, I think that they wrote this without thinking. Finlay and Santino weren't really the best choices for this RTWM, and seeing as Finlay was on Raw for Jericho's RTWM it doesn't really make sense for him to be on Smackdown. ALthough, Jeff Hardy seems to be in almost everyone's RTWM! Q: How can I unlock the Hardcore title? It's not in your walkthrough! A: This Walkthrough is for Road to Wrestlemania mode *ONLY*. You have to play Career mode to unlock the Hardcore title. I may consider writing a career mode FAQ, but that's not a promise. ######################## <ci1>Contact Information ######################## If you have any questions, additions, have noticed any flaws, or just want to talk WWE, you can email me.
