Hmmm, that is really strange. No matter what the size of the Playstation 3 is, all of the games that come out should work on it unless there is something wrong with the game. I think that something is wrong with the game, and it may be dirty or scratched. I think that your friend should either swap the game out, or see if the game works on someone else's Playstation 3. Because if it does, then he needs to get his Playstation 3 exchanged. Hope this helps.

I have the 40GB PS3 and never had this problem, maybe it has problem with the disk.
