You are able to jump over the barrier near the commentary tables, just run into them or press square. You can't exactly make your way through the crowd but you can fight in a small area next to the crowd.

Well I guess you can get into the small area in the northeast corner of the barrier and press square. I thought you could do this on '07 not '06 but I haven't played it in a while so I guess you can.
