Just de-equip your weapon or select granades and don't equip a weapon when you run out no matter what you have equiped tho it don't matter if you just use your knife

First Select Grenades, Then Use them all on something.
Easy..Then when your grenades are empty, you'll have nothing in your hands.
Simple as that.
