Ok I know that the sniper weapon is in strut f but I can't find it--is there some trick?

No there's no trick.
First you need the Lvl 3 Security Card. You get this from Ames (The man that you talk to in the hall in B1 of the Shell 1 Core - The room where all the other hostages are).
Then when you leave the Core head head go to Strut F and look for a door with a Lvl 3 Security Clearance. The sniper rifle (PSG-1) should be here.
Just crawl under the Infrared Sensors or shoot the control unit and you're there.

Look in all of the rooms in strut f but watch out because one room has infared sensors destroy the green light with your socom and get the m4. Go to the room on right hand of the m4 and the PSG1 is there. Then go to right ofthe room {still inside} and crawl through the duct and you'll get the PSG!-T laters
