Well it depends on which time you are defeating the plant. If you are referring to when you are on the level "Green Fingers", your first encounter with the plant you just have to play as Robin and use the special suit that sucks up the little pieces. Once you have collected 25 pieces, deposite the pieces into the chamber and it will create a bomb, the plant will eat the bomb and explode.
The second time you need to defeat the plant is when you are also defeating Poison Ivy. You must hit Ivy until she jumps into one of her plants and hides. Then, one of the plants should regurgitate pieces in which you can build a bomb and it will eat it. Repeat that step for each plant and you will defeat it.
