What is "scrap metal" for? I found a lot of it, in the Bikanel Desert?

It is metal that some guys use to build a chicken robot and you have to defeat it it can get Rocket launchers and other powerful weapons I made it so strong that when I first battled it I was defeated on 1 hit

When you're done digging, you get a gil reward (depending on your wages). It's not in the Parts Catalogue but apparently it's as normal as a Defence Assembly, for example.
