PS2 Backwards Compatibility

The table below shows the PS3 models that can play most of the PS2 format discs and Super Audio CDs. To find the model number check the rear or the bottom of the console and look for the series of numbers and letters starting with CECH.

USA/ Canada CECH01, CECHB01, CECHE01
Latin America CECHE11
Europe/Australia/New Zealand CECHC02, CECHC03, CECHC04, CECHC08
Korea CECHE05
Hong Kong/ Taiwan/ Southeast Asia CECHA12, CECHB12, CECHE12, CECHA07, CECHB07, CECHA06, CECHE06


Even if your PS3 can play PS2 and Playstation format discs, you'll notice that they play differently compared to when they're on their original platforms. Some discs may not work on some PS3 systems at all. Please refer to your region's Playstation support site for more information about backwards compatibility.
