They only age by themselves and faster if you enabled it.If you do not want your neighbors to age, go to options - game options and uncheck the Enable Aging box. This will prevent your sims from aging. Unchecking the story progession box will not do anything, because there is a glitch with that. When you want your sims to age, buy a birthday cake and select which sim you want to age. However, if you age a child into a teenager then you decide you want to age them into an young adult you cannot do that, you will have to go back and check the enable aging box for them to age a little bit. But if you leave it there too long your neighbors will start to age.Hoped I helped.

Also, if you entered the cheat testingcheatsenabled true then you can shift click on your sim that you wish to age, and you don't have to have a birthday cake.

The jobs available on the sims 3 are jobs like, law enforcement, scientist, criminal, store clerk and things like that. Also, if your sim is a workaholic, then they can work from home on a computer and get farther up in their career faster.
