Get your mercanarie to attack him until he dies and when you wait for him to die attack him with a long range weapon. When your mercanary dies switch to your melee weapon and use thorns. Stack up on potions as they are your lifeblood.

This is how I beat the first boss but not sure if it will work with him. I got it by the stairs(REMEMBER DONT KNOW IF IT WONT WORK)and use your helper and yourself with a close up attack weapon with both of us and attacked then ran up the stairs when I was close to death. Then used a potion or 2. Then I went back down started to battle again. Remember don't try beig cool and stay there and die.i lost all my weapons like that.______________________________________-REMEMBER I USED A BARBARIAN AND WAS ON THE FIRST BOSS!
