All you do is drag and drop the present that you want to send into the letter.

You have to drag the present to the letter

You drag the item (can't be fish)to the letter and let go.

To attach a present to a letter you must (a)touch it with you stylus and bring it over to you letter or (b) press A on it then choose grab, then bring it over to the letter.
