Question for Animal Crossing: Wild World

At the moment, I'm taking part in the Acorn Festival. The festival goes on for seven days and so far I'm on my 5th day and I just need to get 200 acorns to get the next acorn prize. Once I collect enough acorns, I then need to get 30 more for the last acorn festival prize. But, I've ran out of acorns and there are only rotten ones left. If I went back in time a few days, would there be more acorns and will I be able to keep the furniture I've already won? At the moment I have 194 acorns and I desperately want to get all the prizes and I would like to know whether going back in time would affect the amount of acorns in my town or not before doing so.
Thanks, LucyLu101

Time travel has NO EFFECT on the items in your inventory, though it will cause weeds to grow, and the NPCs will ask where you were(even if you go back in time- very strange)
