It may be because you have ordered things on other residents if you have more then one and not emptied their letterbox. If you havnt cleared the letterbox of things ordered from the catalog on one of your residents, then you wont be able to order new things on other residents until you do. Also, if your letterbox is clogged up with mail, new mail cannot come through. Try waiting a day or two (or fast it forward a day if you can't wait) and then try and order something in the catalog.

Thank you soooooo much because the exact thing happened to me but I didn't time travel so when I did I tried using the catalog and it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Guest answered:
Because when you change the time . ( Or time travel ) and you go to far back or to far into the future he can't keep up so it gets blocked up on orders.

Tip: To make catalog items come faster, mail 10 letters to people that same day, and the items will come right away!I've tried it!

most likely what happened is you time-traveled, and good ol' Nook couldn't keep up with it, so your mailbox got clogged. Search for more answers for Animal Crossing: Wild World or ask your own question here.
