It should come through the mail. However, there are quite a few flaws in the mailbox system. Sometimes, mail gets "stuck" and is never delivered. This can happen if you don't open the mailbox often enough or if you have other residents in your house that have unopened mail. If the latter is true, take those other residents and check their mail. Or you can delete them. If this is not the case, mail one letter to anyone in your town. It may fix the problem, assuming that IS the problem.
