How do I catch fish? Its impossable!

I can't catch any fish. I have the fishing rod and cast it into the river or sea when I see a black shadow (a fish). I wait untill the fish goes up to the bait and starts biting it. I then reel it in, but no fish.
 This is driving me mad, I've been playing for over a week and have tried for hours to catch a fish!

Well, you wait until the bubble thingy floaty thingy goes underwater. Then, you reel it in. But you have to be fast. As soon as the fish pulls the floaty thing underwater, click A. (: Hope I helped.

You have to wait until it stops going back and forth and then when it pops underwater tap your person/press A as soon as you can and then a fish should come up.
I hate when I keep catching the same fish over again.

well you cast the line. Then you wait until the bobber goes under and press "A"

I found it hard when I tried too! When you cast your line into the ocean/pond/river, just wait for the fish too go up to the bait. While the fish is tapping your bait, DO NOT CLICK YOUR PLAYER OR THE A BUTTON!! Wait until the bait 'pops' (that's what it sounds like!) because that means the fish has bitten it and is trying to drag underwater. Quickly (you should have been ready) either tap your character or click the A Button to catch the fish. For a second or two (depending on the type of fish) it will stay in the water and the bait will be bobbing up and down fast, so don't be worried when that happens. If you are comfortable with it, you could do the same as what me and my sister do. When the fish has bitten the bait, keep on tapping the screen or pressing your A Button. I don't know why we do that we just naturally know we have caught the fish then! Hope this helps!
The faster the better, because you have a better chance of getting the fish!
Fast is also cool because of Sonic the Hedgehog. Just saying.

Try to change your bait (more smell and oily) is better, if you are a smoker, try to wrap your hand with garlic past because the fishes has strong smell, and check your hook sharpness, the sharper is better,
