Luigi EX answered:

To put the codes in you turn your DS on. Then you press on the star. Then you chose the game that you want. Then it says add code at the top. Then you add the code name. Then add the numbers or letters.

When there is the x's for codes there is usually more codes like for example
Change colors a4000000 f89c0xxxx
Then there is usually a list like

0912 red
9840 blue
2a34 yellow
That is whwt people that list codes do. It saves time. That is why they put x's.

The commands are what activates the code. EXAMPLE: Press A+B to turn red.

The difference betweeen 1.0 and 1.1 is that the codes are slightly different.
Example: 1.0 abcdef123 456789000
1.1 bcdef1234 56789000a

I hope that this detalied answer helps.

P.S When I first got my action replay I wondered what the answers to all these questions were. So these questions were very good questions
