Your account can never have more than 99,999 bells in it... Make sure it's not full (you have to do the time travel cheat a fair few times to get lots of money)
Are you following the instructions in the cheat exactly? It's important that you go to the right dates...
If you're just waiting, you have to wait, because you don't get your interest untill January 1st.

Travel forward NOT using the phone in the game. Use the DS menu. I got a lot of money and a lot of weeds. Ask friends to came over and help you pick them.

You gain a small fraction of the money in your account added on as interest on the 1st of every month.

I have three things to say:
1. Your account can have 999,999,999 bells in it.
2. You get your interest at the end of every month.
3. You have to change the date on the DS like apple seed said instead of on the phone.
