In most codes that give you 999 items, like rare candies, there are three main parts that I have "discovered".
Look at the code below:

The coding where the *'s are designates where the item will go:
890=General Items
DAC=Potions
F4C=PokeBalls
The Coding where the @'s are designates how man of the item you want. This number is written in Hexadecimal, so you need to convert using a calculator. In the 999 items codes, 3E7 takes up those spots. Coincidentally, 3E7 is 999 in Hexadecimal.
Here are some numbers and their hexadecimal translations.
999=3E7
100=64
99=63
500=1F4
Lastly, the coding where the $'s are determines which item you want.
For example:
32=Rare Candy
5D=Heart Scale
