1. In Sakon's hideout you go on the third day, Kafei is hiding behind a rock, Sakon comes walking along. Hide or use the stone mask or he'll see you and run away. If he doesn't see you he opens his hideout. Go in with Kafei. The path splits in two, on one of them Link has to kill enemies to open doors for Kafei, on the other Kafei has to push blocks and step on switches to open doors for Link. You switch between the two, and when you get to the end you can grab the sun mask for Kafei. You have to do this really quickly. Then go back to clock town stock pot inn employee room, after a long wait Kafei comes in, meets Anju, and you get the Couples mask.
2. I don't remember but you should explore it as much as possible to get an idea of where to go. If you get the map and compass it's a lot easier.
