What do the "invincible katuri" (the pig) and the "mysterious turtle figurine" do in the game???

They are supposed to make your family life better.

They make it so your greenhouse and other buildings don't get destroyed by typhoons(bad storms)

I've heard the Invincible Katori prevents your greenhouse from being destroyed, and I don't know what the Mysterious Turtle does, but I expect it's the same thing (If you don't have the Invincible Katori, but you have the Mysterious Turtle, then I think your greenhouse will still be fine - But I'm not sure, because a typhoon has never hit me). Another way to prevent your greenhouse from being destroyed, or so I've heard, is to put your dog inside and leave it in there (it won't lower it's affection for you, because you can still whistle for it and everything). I don't know if it works since I haven't had the problem but I do keep my dog inside it just in case.

Whenever the typhoon come sleep immediately after eating if you do this your maximum items will fine
